New Resource: AncestryK12

Thanks to a generous grant from Ancestry.com, all of MSD students have free access to AncestryK12 for 1 year. Through this resource, we are granted free access to all of the original and primary documents of Ancestry's U.S. Collection for use in any K12 classroom.

AncestryK12 along with its sister sites are now linked from the Media Center Resource/Tools webpage.

Wait! It gets better.....

Fold3 and Newspapers.com

Along with AncestryK12, we are allowed free access to 2 "sister" sites of Ancestry. The links below are specific to our township and will only work while users are on one of our campus. The videos below will offer an introduction to Fold3 and Newspapers.com and provide search guides.

1. Fold3

Fold3 provides convenient access to military records, including the stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served. The records at Fold3 help you discover and share stories about these everyday heroes, forgotten soldiers, and the families that supported them. On Fold3, you can combine records found on the site with what you have in your own albums and shoeboxes to create an online memorial for someone who served.

2. Newspapers.com

This resource allows for searches for newspapers from 7 different countries. In the U.S., 51 states are searchable. The date range for the searches is 1700 - 2017, depending upon the newspaper publication. The video below provides an introduction and guide to doing searches from this awesome resource.
