Why did they build the pyramids?

The pyramids were built as burial places and monuments to the Pharaohs. The Egyptians believed that the Pharaoh needed certain things to succeed in the afterlife. Deep inside the pyramid the Pharaoh would be buried with, treasure that he may need to survive in the afterlife.

Ttypes of pyramids

There were many types of pyramides, I will explain some of them.


There was one called the Step Pyramides, that had large ledges, so often that they look like huge steps. Archeologist think that the steps were fot the pharaoh to climb to the sun god. Later pyramides had slooping aand flat sides. The sun god stood on the mound and created the other gods.

How big were the pyramids?

There were about 138 pyramids all of them were huge. But The largest was the Khufu, also called the Great Pyramid of Giza. It was the tallest man made structure for around 3800 years. And it is one of the seven wonders of the world.

How were the pyramids build?

It is a mystery, that the archeologys have tried to figure out, but have not. They predict that slaves cut blocks, and then slowly put them on the pyramid ramps. The slaves spend a lot of building the pyramid, archeologist predict that they spend 23 years on that, and there were ay least 20,000 workers.

Pharaoh's life...

In a great palace, the pharahos wakes up with one of his wifes. Then a servant comes in the room and prepares them, he and his wife. The servants wash him in a room with drains in the floor. After the servants wash him, they cut his hair very short, and put him a wig made of human's hair. Then finally he puts on a gold pendant around his neck.

After that he goes and meet with some foreign merchant. While his wife is preparind her childrens and the dinner party. He is encharged of almost every thing in Egypy. Beeing a farah is cool, but as the sale way it is difficult.

Ma'at, a very important goddesses

Ma'at was the goddess of justice, truth, and harmony. Ma'at was the daughter of the sun god. Farahos often make honor to her. With Ma'at the farahos show the gods that they have harmony, and that they are fair. She said that she was the wife of Toth and that they have eight childs. Ma'at had may jobs one of them is that she has to gide the god of the sun, which is her father. She was the one who determined the course that his boat took accros the sky. She was associated with the balace of things in Earth. She has a very difficult job.

Bes's story...


He was the protector of women, and of the entretainers of children. When protecting the women it was firt of all in the birth. Because acient egyptians thought that the children and the women were most at risk of the evil. He had many roles as protecter. That was a very occupated and difficult job. But at the same time it was very important. He recieved a lot of respect from the faraoh. The faraoh thought thet if they did not respect him their children will die. And then they will die too. So Bes was very respected.
