Family Resource Center services are available to TUSD students and their families, free of charge. Please call the center to register for classes. Childcare is available to TUSD students and siblings for most classes. Please inform staff of the need for childcare when you register. Include the number of children, ages, and any special needs. Interpreter services are available. Please inform staff of the need for an interpreter when you register. Please register at least two weeks in advance if interpreter services are needed.

Other services include:

  • Food pantry
  • Help with Open Enrollment Applications & other TUSD forms
  • Information and referrals

Family Resource Center staff can answer all your TUSD questions.

2023-24 Open Enrollment & Registration- Presented by TUSD Enrollment Ambassadors (for parents/guardians, students welcome)

Get a jump start on registering your child for the 2023-24 school year. This event is open to new, continuing, and returning families. Enrollment Ambassadors will be present to support and guide anyone who wants to register for school using ParentVue. Appointments are not required. TUSD is a great place to be!

Come and learn basic computer skills with a certified TUSD teacher! Classes take place once a week at the Family Resource Centers, and you can drop in at your convenience. The teacher will be on-hand to help with ParentVUE, resume building, federal meal application, school choice applications, navigating the TUSD website, College Prep & AZ Merit exams, and more! Power of Parents- Presented by TUSD's Social Emotional Learning & Development Department (for adults)

Session 1- Trauma Informed Approaches for Parents

This empowering parenting session will help identify symptoms of distress and provide specific strategies for parent/child connection and resilience. Tessa Brock has dedicated her professional career to exploring behaviors, how our brains impact our responses, and how we can use this to insightful neuroscience to THRIVE.

Session 2- Mothers Against Drunk Driving

Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s Power of Parents Program emphasizes that communication is KEY! Parents are youth’s leading resource when it comes to making healthy choices. This program helps parents use the power they have to keep their kids safe through ongoing, critical conversations with their children about alcohol and other drugs.

Social Media and Youth- Presented by The Tucson Police Department (for adults)

Please join us for a powerful presentation on how to support children in navigating the world of social media and its relation to violence, gangs, and drugs. Our guest speaker Lieutenant Alisa Cunningham has over 20 years of Law Enforcement and Community Service experience. She is currently the Deputy Commander of the Counter Narcotics Alliance- AZHIDTA, where her work includes education and prevention. This class is open to all parents, guardians, or caregivers that care for youth of any age. Light refreshments will be provided.

Story School- Presented by Make Way for Books for (children ages 0-5 & their adult caregiver)

Story School is a free reading program where children and parents learn together each week in a positive group setting. Participants will foster community as they explore and build connections around books. Children are immersed in literacy activities that promote the development of language and social-emotional skills. Parents/caregivers gain skills and tools to support their children’s early development. Childcare will be provided. Children will also receive free books!

The Familia Adelante Program targets at-risk Latino youth, 10-14 years old, and their parents through a two-generational approach. Familia Adelante is a dynamic, culturally responsive education-community prevention program to address the rising rates of substance abuse, acculturation trauma, and behavioral health problems. Becoming Financially Fit- Presented by Family Housing Resources (for adults)

The Financial Foundations Program is a “FREE TO YOU” program developed for Family Housing Resources Inc. to help you build a solid foundation of financial education, grow your wealth, and achieve financial freedom. It includes an 8-session course that will cover budgeting, taxes, loans, and more. We will pair you with an expert mentor to help you create a plan to achieve your financial goals. An orientation session is required. This course will be held online at no cost to you, and all participants that complete the program successfully may be eligible to receive up to $200.00! This class is offered online.

GED Classes for Adults- Presented by Literacy Connects (for adults)

You can improve your reading, writing, math, and critical thinking skills, prepare for the GED exam, and learn basic computer skills! Classes meet two days per week and are available in the morning and evening. Space is limited, so sign up today using our GED Interest list form. Literacy Connects’ staff will call you to complete the application and to assign classes. We will contact you via email if we place you on the waiting list. Questions?
