A Peek Inside the Week - April 6th, 2023
As we approach the end of the school year, we hope this message finds you well and looking forward to a well-deserved break. Spring break is an excellent opportunity to recharge and spend some quality time with your children. Whether it's a staycation or a getaway, we hope you can take some time to relax and enjoy the break!
When we return on the 17th, and gear up for the final months of school, it will be important to keep up the momentum and stay focused on your child(ren)'s academic progress. Encourage your child(ren) to continue to work hard and stay engaged in their learning. This is a critical time of year, and every effort counts towards achieving success.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education. Together, we can ensure a successful end to the school year.
**IMPORTANT** Grades 3-5 Testing Schedule
You may be wondering if there is something you can do as a parent to help your child(ren) prepare for this assessment. Please know that everything your child(ren)'s teachers have done this year, and in prior years has prepared them to be successful and show all that they know. There is no need to "cram" for these exams, as your child's performance is a personal reflection of their learning progress/journey. There are however a few tips that will help them feel confident and prepared:
- Eat a good breakfast on test days! Make sure there is plenty of time for your child to eat from different groups of the food pyramid. When your child eats nutritious carbohydrates and vegetables, in particular, they won’t be hungry during their test.
- Get some good sleep! Make sure your children get some quality sleep before their test sessions . Along with your child’s nutrition, their sleep will also affect their performance, as they might feel tired and cranky during their test. To combat this, help them get ready for bed particularly early so that they get their rest!
- Give them a rundown of their schedule! Though their teachers may inform them about their test, reiterate to them about their testing schedule. Alleviate them of their nerves, as this is simply an assessment of what they have learned. Since the SBAC will affect their typical class schedule, it’s good to let your child know about these changes. It is also a good opportunity for you to encourage them to try their hardest on the test so that you as a parent can observe what they learned, and what specific concepts they need to improve on.
If you have any questions about the schedule or the assessment itself, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mr. Kenyon, Mrs. Hammer, or your child's classroom teacher. We are confident our ET students are going to ROCK it!

"Student Spotlight" - Board of Education
The Board of Education was incredibly impressed with the poise, confidence, and engagement of these students.
The part that should make our community proudest is that this club was created BY students, FOR students. Now that's engagement, social consciousness, and empowerment -- all elements of our Portrait of a Graduate!
Headphones for Grades 3-5
We are asking families to send in a pair of headphones for their child(ren). Headphones should be:
- Wired...NOT Bluetooth
- Headphones...NOT earbuds
- Inexpensive...they do not need to be a high-quality pair
Ensuring that students have a working pair of headphones will help them engage with the test content and show all they have learned!
Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher with any questions.
