Weekly Family Update # 34
April 26, 2020
Principal's Message
Hello Falcon Families,
I am loving this summer weather! It has been a fantastic weekend filled with running in the sprinklers, painting rocks for the garden, teaching the puppy to play fetch, looking at the stars with our telescope, and we rented "Sonic the Hedgehog". Emery gives it two thumbs up and Abby fell asleep, haha. Our puppy also finished all her shots so we were able to take her out into the neighborhood for her first walk!
This is the last week for our online Continuing Student Registration. We still have several hundred families who have not completed this process. Please follow the directions below to finish your registration, I really appreciate it!!
Normally we would have had a progress report coming out this past Friday. We have put progress reports on hold for two weeks since we have just started our new Distance Learning program and the school board just approved a new temporary grading procedure for this year. Students will either be receiving a CR meaning Credit for a class or an NM, meaning No Mark or no credit for the class on their progress/report cards. Students will continue to receive feedback from teachers, but it will not come in the form of a traditional letter grade. There is no A, B, C, D or percentage associated with grading in this new manner. It is based on: did a student participate, did they show effort, and are they progressing towards the standard? This is how all middle schools in our district will be approaching assessing our students and assigning grades for courses. More information can be found on the PUSD updates button below.
Our Counseling Office created an update for students and families, you can see the it in the link below. Construction is still on track and I am ordering classroom furniture this week!
Have a great week Falcons!
Thanks for all you do for our Oak Valley Community! Go Falcons!

Continuing Online Student Registration For 2020-2021
The online Continuing Student Registration will be open April 1 - April 30, 2020. Parents and Guardians will receive email notification once the website is open.
We must receive a completed digital packet for all returning students. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2020-2021 school year. This annual digital process will allow a family to complete one single “family” packet instead of completing one packet per student.
Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection. In preparation of this process, now is the time to confirm that you know your parent login username and password. This information will be needed to complete the registration packet.
Please take a moment and ensure you can login to https://sis.powayusd.com. If you do not know your username and/or password, you can visit https://password.powayusd.com to retrieve your login credentials.
Please notify your current Principal via email as soon as possible if you do not plan to return to PUSD for the 2020-2021 school year.
*Once school resumes, we will be collecting all required signed paperwork*
Thank you for your attention to this important process.
