Message from PSUSD on tentative plan for students to return to school campuses

Please take a moment to watch the video from Dr. Lyon, PSUSD Superintendent in English or in Spanish from Dr. Signoret, Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources about the tentative plan to begin to bring students back to school campuses this Fall and Winter.

Here is a quick summary of the tentative plan from those videos:

  • PSUSD is continuing to plan for a gradual hybrid start date in January 2021. Hybrid means 50% of our students will be attending campus at one time. All students that would like in-person instruction will attend at least part of each week.
  • Small groups of students may begin to come back to campus starting this Fall based on Riverside County health data/numbers and PSUSD planning.
  • Social distancing, protective equipment, safety routines, and procedures will be in place as we begin to bring back students to our campuses.
  • In November, PSUSD will be hosting a public Town Hall Meeting to share information and get input from our families regarding these plans.
  • In December, additional professional development will be provided to our staff to ensure that we are ready to bring all of our students back to campus in hybrid in January 2021.
  • Parents/families that want to remain in Distance Learning will have that option. Please complete this form by September 30th, if you would like your student to remain in distance learning this year.

Afternoon small groups schedule for the beginning of October

During distance learning, all PSUSD teachers are given the option to use the afternoons for the first 5 school days of the each month (excluding Wednesdays) to prepare online distance learning plans, which are uniquely different than in-person lessons. On October 1, 2, 5, 6, and 8 your child's teacher may not be holding small afternoon groups. Please watch for communication from your child's teacher regarding the schedule for your child's class. Students not participating in small groups will work on independent learning activities as assigned by the teacher. Classes not holding small groups will resume again on Friday, October 9. Each teacher holds office hours each day, so please feel free to reach out if you or your child needs individual support.
