Welcoming Our New Counselor
We are so excited to introduce you to our new school counselor, Miss Kara Kenney. This is the first time in over 10 years that Dwyer has had a full-time counselor and we are so happy that she will be here to support all of our students. With the rise in social-emotional and mental health needs for youth, HBCSD and Dwyer felt it was crucial to have a skilled professional to work alongside our administrators, psychologists, and teachers.
Miss Kenney comes to us from Irvine Unified School District, having worked at both the middle and high school levels. She grew up in Irvine and still resides in the city. As a lifelong dancer, she has also taught dance and is working on certification in yoga. Miss Kenney has an older brother who is an accountant and a younger sister who is studying to be a teacher. In her free time she enjoys yoga, traveling, and spending time with great friends.
Miss Kenney will be located in our basement offices along with Mr. Martinez and Ms. Dunn. She will be facilitating classroom guidance lessons for all students, holding small groups for various needs, and leading one-on-one counseling sessions for students. She is excited to work with our parent community as well to meet the needs of all.

Fall Fundraiser
We are pleased to announce that we have a direct donation brick campaign going on from now until September 30. By purchasing a brick, you will have a lasting family memory to be placed in our new STEAM Building and Gym areas. In addition, the donation covers up to 4 PTSA memberships (students are encouraged to be members too).
Donating funds for a brick is a two-step process. First, you will fill out a paper form and write a check/cash to Dwyer PTSA ($150). After that is turned in to the office, you will visit 4ever Bricks website to customize your brick. At this time you will have the option of adding art and purchasing a replica mini-brick (payment for these options is done through website).
Please think about supporting our students and school. The PTSA spends these funds all year on things such as GRIT rewards, library books, sports equipment, staff appreciation, and so much more. We are so thankful for the generous community support!
