Eagle's Eye View
Growing Juntos
Week at a Glance 12-7-15 to 12-11-15
ZIS Vision: One Child, Two Languages - Unlimited Possibilities
ZIS Mission: We will provide and assist each student with a well-rounded and differentiated education that is centered around the immersion of the Spanish language and cultures to prepare them for a global society.
Instructional Focus: The SIOP Model in ALL classrooms. Please, por favor, PLEASE review, use, and reflect upon the components of SIOP and continue conversations within your grade level meetings during your common planning times. I believe in the use of this model and want to implement it with fidelity as we grow our eagles into bilingual and biliterate citizens.
Lunes - LOD is Spanish
- My Papa and Keke are coming to have lunch today with me. Feel free to come get some grandparent love if you want. I CAN'T WAIT! I love them so much!
- As we use LOD, please do so with fidelity. I understand it is a change, but some students are really doing it well, and others are not...same with teachers and paras. It takes a village, but together we can really help increase the amount of Basic Interpersonal Communication Skills amongst us ALL...myself included. I have to be better, too.
- PTA Board Meeting tonight at 6:30. Please, let me know if you want me to share any news or information.
- Today, at 9:00, I have a radio interview with Qué Buena. I will be out of the building just for a little while. I will be able to share about our KG Tours and talk about your greatness. Please, e-mail me anything you all think I should share in the interview about Zarrow's greatness. :-)
- Corazón will be hanging out with Sra. Lagers today. So, if you need a relaxing second to breathe she is available for her Therapy Dog services. ;-)
- Weekly Gathering today in the library.
- Zumba at 4:45-5:45

Viernes - LOD is Spanish
- CAPs today. I'd like to change it up and meet in your rooms instead. We can choose the room as we meet in the halls. ;-) My office is so blah sometimes, and I like to talk about kids WHERE KIDS ARE. Sometimes my office is nice, but sometimes it's nice to be in your/our environment.
- Please, promote our LOD. Gracias.
Online gradebook
An updated and accurate grade book is an invaluable tool for all educators. It is expected that grade books will be updated on a weekly basis. Please perform a gradebook report on PowerSchool each Friday to ensure grades are not lost when report cards go out. TPS policy requires a minimum of:
· 2 grades per week for Reading
· 2 grades per week for Math
· 1 grade per week for Social Studies
· 1 grade per week for Science.
· 4 grades per quarter for Specials subjects
· Grades from library projects will be infused into the grade book of the subject it is covering as needed.
Have a GREAT WEEK! You are the best of the best, and I am blessed to be with such great professionals like YOU! This is the best school in the nation!
Rasgo del mes
With Honor
ZIS Focus
The first person to bring me some information they found on their own regarding the use of the SIOP Model I will have a prize for you. ;-) I am not seeing CO/LO in all classrooms, so please, try to encourage each other and support each other. We are awesome and have a lot of very great co-workers who are willing to attend to this in a trial and error process...just like me. :-) I appreciate all of your efforts and know that together we can change the world!
Teacher of the Week
El Orgullo de Zarrow
Sr. Santiago brings us so much insight from Spain's educational world, and offers the most beautiful Spanish to his 1st grade students. I have even received e-mails from parents talking about his greatness! I am impressed with his true efforts in doing what is BEST for children. He not only researches on his own, participates in different PDs, but also becomes involved in conversations with me about what he is doing well and what he wants to learn more about and this, in turn, makes me a better principal. Anyone who charges your battery, like Sr. Santiago does, is worth SO MUCH in our educational world.
