Hark! The Herald
Friday, December 20, 2019
Whew! What a week it's been here at Saint Michael School.
Each of you reading this is a contributor to our school community in some way. Whether you are a student or a parent, a parishioner or alumni, a donor or business partner, we could not be who we are, nor could we offer our students the first class education they receive without you! Thank you for your kindness, support, and involvement in our school community this year.
During this Advent season, and less than a week from Christmas, I am very mindful of how blessed we are. May you and your loved ones experience God’s blessings during this season of joy, hope, and love.
On behalf of Mrs. Beam, Father Justin and the entire Saint Michael School Faculty and Staff, I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas!
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!
Peace on earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled."
Joyful, all ye nations, rise,
Join the triumph of the skies;
With th' angelic host proclaim,
"Christ is born in Bethlehem."
Hark! the herald angels sing,
"Glory to the new-born King!

Project Feed the Thousands Food Drive Comes to a Close
As a school, we donated 1,165.8 lbs of food and made a financial donation of $150.00!
The group that contributed the most per student was our 6/7 homeroom.
Collectively, they contributed 309.5 lbs... way to go 6/7!
When they return from break, they will enjoy a pizza party compliments of Principal Beam.
This morning, students from the 6th and 7th grade class went to Hannaford's Supermarket to participate in Project Feed festivities. Liana Capra of Summit Chrysler Jeep Dodge RAM was there with several employees. They agreed to match our food contributions with a second Jeep filled with food. Summit employees did the shopping and our students bagged all the groceries to bring out to the Jeep. It was a sight to behold.
WTSA 96.7 and 92.7 Bratt FM were broadcasting live from Hannafords today. They interviewed our students and invited them to sing some Christmas carols.
As the culmination to our food drive, the contents from both Jeeps were delivered to St. Brigids Kitchen and unpacked into their pantry for distribution.
There are videos and photos circulating of our students in action.... Share links on our Facebook page if you find anything. Here are a few sources to check out:

A glimpse into the visits at Shirley Squires home earlier this week by our 6-12th grade students.
Here is a sweet 3 minute video about Shirley and how her nativity collection began.
This nativity was made by some of our HS students as a gift for Mrs. Squires when they were in 6th grade!
Saints Suffer Tough Loss vs. PVCICS
by Phil Leggiere
On the heels of their big opening game win versus White Oak last week the Saint Michael High School Saints basketball squad took to the road Wednesday, December 18 to take on the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School (PVCICS) in Hadley Massachusetts. Unfortunately, the Saints were unable to repeat their stellar opening game performance against a formidable PVCICS team, losing by a lopsided 53 to 16.
Highlights of the Saints’ disappointing effort were continued strong offensive play by Michael Kelleher, who scored eight points and some fine shots from Ezra Christie, who contributed four points. The Saint defense, however, proved no match for PVCICS’s high-speed fast-break offense, which consistently surprised and outpaced it, leaving PVCICS players unopposed on the far court with easy lay-up shots..
After a Christmas and New Year holiday break, the Saints will be returning to the court versus Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter School (BART) in Adams, Massachusetts on Tuesday January 7, 2020.
