Getting Ready to Reopen
Hello VG Families and Staff,
I am excited to share that we are getting closer to reopening and I have a lot of information that will specifically pertain to families who selected the Hybrid Learning Model for their children in this Juergens' Journal. There is a lot to share with you as we prepare for this transition back to campus. There is also information below for students who are staying remote as their Monday schedule will also be adjusted.
Parents and families will play a HUGE role in helping make this transition successful. Please remember that it will be an expectation that ALL students and families wear a mask at all time while on campus (this includes our parking lots). Gaiters and bandanas will not be permitted, reusable or disposable masks that cover the nose and mouth will be expected. Our adult words and actions matter and we need you to model this expectation to your children if you expect them to return in the hybrid model. Our teachers will help remind students about the importance of wearing their masks correctly, hand sanitizing, and social distancing but we will hold students accountable if they are being defiant and not wanting to wear their mask. Please help us now to prepare! Have your child practice wearing a mask around the house, while playing in the house or outside.
Respectfully,
:) Principal Juergens
SRVUSD Hybrid Reopening Details
UDATED: 2/6 @ 11:30am As of TODAY WE ARE AT: 23.7 which means if we stay lower than 25 for the next 5 days then TK-2 will return to school on Thursday, 2/11, and grades 3rd-5th within a one week timeframe...please keep checking!
If you did not have a chance to read Dr. Malloy's reopening communication from Tuesday, February 2nd, please make the time to read through this link.
Per CCHS, SRVUSD must follow the adjusted case rate that can be found here (and we’ve also provided a screenshot below). In the case of using the county numbers to trigger a reopening to in-person instruction, the District must use the county adjusted case rate numbers of the previous 7 days, and not the most recent 7 days, because that data is still being reported.
You can also click on K-6 School Reopening to see the current number, which gets updated daily at 11:30am.
You should have received an email with a Notice and Acknowledgement for Return to On-Campus Learning document which MUST BE SIGNED prior to your child's return. Please contact Delia Verber if you did not receive this or if you need support.
I WILL CONTINUE TO KEEP YOU UPDATED :) Osi
Vista Grande Hybrid Reopening Details
Please also take the time to read through this Vista Grande Community Reopening Guide as it has a lot of details that you will need to know prior to students being back on campus.
This document includes hybrid bell schedules, arrival & dismissal procedures, recess information and so much more!
In order to prepare us for a smooth transition back on campus we have a few recommendations & opportunities:
- Mondays remain REMOTE even for Hybrid students.
- Please have your children practice wearing their masks, make sure they have multiple masks that fit their face correctly (covering nose and mouth) and don't fall down past their nose when they talk
- Organize your children's school supplies in a pencil pouch or ziplock bag with pencils, colored pencils/crayons (teachers will give you specifics once we get official word that we are reopening) Students will not be sharing supplies!
- All students will need a personal water bottle. Please label it with your child's name. The drinking fountains will not be accessible so a water bottle is important.
IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITIES:
This Saturday & Sunday (2/6 & 2/7) we will leave our front gates unlocked (closest to the office) and our side gate unlocked (first gate in the staff parking lot) so parents can access the campus with their children & find their child's classroom/s. (See map below for details so your child can easily locate their classroom when we return to campus). Since you will not be able to walk your child to their classroom once we reopen we wanted to give you this opportunity to help us make this transition smooth for your children and give you an opportunity to take a photo in front of their classroom. We do ask that everyone wears their masks and adheres to the county social distance guidelines; it will be tempting to stay on campus and socialize, but I would like to ask that you refrain and work together to keep each other safe and MODEL social distancing and masking for your children as they will be expected to follow when they are on campus. Remember, you are helping us model the expectations and ensuring we have a successful transition back on campus!!!
On Monday (2/8) I will be holding TWO VG Reopening Town Halls for Hybrid Logistics to answer any questions you may have prior to us reopening. These will be split up by alphabet so I can stay within my 300 participant ZOOM limit and have the chance to have smaller groups. Please thoroughly read through the Vista Grande Community Reopening Guide prior to the Town Halls so I can answer any questions you may still have prior to reopening.

Vista Grande Hybrid/Remote Map
(Click on the image for a link to print map)
You will want to make a copy or take a photo of the map in the link as it is a better image so you have it accessible if you choose to come to campus this weekend with your child so they know where their classroom is located.
Hybrid & Remote Bell Schedules
Remote Details when Hybrid Reopens
- Please see pages 15 - 17 for Remote Bell Schedules; please note that Monday's have changed and all students are remote on Mondays.
- Families who chose Remote will not need to attend the Town Hall on Monday evening, as your bell schedule (except Monday's) will stay the same
- Your teacher's will communicate with you directly regarding your class schedules as those will shift a bit in regards to PE, Science, Music, Art, Technology and Library will need to be adjusted due to the Hybrid schedules.

Social Emotional Health & Mental Wellness Questionnaire
One of the main topics from the January 12, 2021 meeting of the SRVUSD Board of Education. Our students’ social emotional health and mental wellness are at the forefront of everyone’s minds, especially as we continue with remote learning. Questionnaires will be administered by grade level band, within a 2-3 day window:
Grades 4, 5: January 27 - January 28 COMPLETED LAST WEEK
Grades 2, 3: February 2 - February 3 COMPLETED THIS PAST WEEK
Grades 1, K, TK: February 8 - February 10
***Grades 2 - 5 will take the questionnaire in Illuminate
***Grades TK - 1 will be interviewed individually, or in small groups, and responses will be recorded in Illuminate

Words Matter Week -- Feb. 1 - Feb. 5
Students watch inspiring videos! Wrote about what Kindness means to them and many students even made a video for our school wide Words Matter Flipgrid.
I had the pleasure to be the read aloud guest speaker in students ZOOM classes on Wednesday for Read Aloud Day. It was great to see all those smiling faces!

Dear families,
It is with deep appreciation and excitement that we inform you of our Fall fundraising success. Falcon Fund and CPAP are both within reach of hitting their paraeducator targets for the year. We are deeply humbled and grateful to all the families that have enabled us to reach this goal.
As in years past, Spring fundraising focuses primarily on securing art, music, and technology, which cost $108,000/year or $187/student. California provides no funding for classroom paraeducators or elementary art, music, and technology programs.
The Vista Grande Auction is the historical funder for TK-5 art, music and technology classes. The Vista Grande auction will happen this year in a much smaller capacity and without the traditional silent and live auction event. We are launching a direct donation drive to protect our dynamic elective programs.
All donations matter. Donations are tax deductible and eligible for corporate matching. All donors will receive a receipt with Falcon Fund’s Tax ID# 94-3043319. You can make a donation on our school website through the VG Store (select art, music, technology donation) or by clicking the link: https://vges.futurefund.com/store/campaigns/18531-art-tech-and-music-donations
Together, we will make it through this year with our exceptional programming intact.
With gratitude,
Falcon Fund, PTA, and CPAP Boards
