Happy 2022-2023 School Year!!! Our first full week of school was fantastic! We are so grateful for our Holmes Road kiddos. They are enthusiastic, eager learners, and they are amazing little humans! We would like to welcome all of our new families, and welcome back all of our returning families. We are so glad that you are here and part of our Holmes Road Family!! The Roadrunner Report is our family newsletter here at Holmes Road. We will plan on sending important news, updates, and celebrations in the Roadrunner Report to our families electronically on a regular basis. We'll also keep these newsletters archived on our school website for you to be able to reference any information you may need.

Arrival and Dismissal Reminders

Thank you for your support and patience during our daily Arrival and Dismissal. Our process is going smoothly and becoming more seamless each day. Thank you in advance for taking a look at the following reminders in order to help our arrival and dismissal run as safely and smoothly as possible:

*Please make sure that you remain in the car rider drop off line until it is your turn to let your child out the passenger's side of the car. Please do not get out of your car, and please do not drive around cars in the line for our students' safety.

*If you arrive after 8:50 a.m., please park your car and sign your child in at the Main Office Security Vestibule.

*The Main Office must know before 2:45 p.m. if your child is to be a car rider in the afternoon (if your child is a DAILY Car Rider you do not need to call the office).

*Please arrive at the Main Entrance with your ID starting at 2:45 p.m., but no later than 3:10 p.m. This will help us avoid having parents waiting for children while buses are entering the bus loop.

*Thank you for continuing to practice your child's bus number with him or her daily!!!

We want to thank you all for your patiences as we iron out the arrival times of our Buckman Heights/Holmes Road buses during these first few weeks of school!! If you ever have questions regarding our arrival or dismissal procedures please feel free to reach out to us any time!

We've Got Spirit!!

Here at Holmes Road Elementary School, we have INCREDIBLE school spirit! We celebrate together as a Holmes Road Community any chance we get. This year, we'd like to invite our students to demonstrate their school spirit on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with us. Every Monday is JOY DAY this year at Holmes Road! On Mondays, please feel free to wear any apparel that supports a theme of joy and kindness. Your children will likely see our staff members wearing reminders of joy, kindness, and positivity! Wednesday is "Bright Futures Day" this year at Holmes Road. Students are welcome to dress like their favorite future profession, or they may wear a favorite college sweatshirt or any shirt representing a trade or business they respect. Fridays are Holmes Road Spirit Days- students are welcome to wear any Holmes Road gear or our school colors, which are blue, yellow, and white. We can not wait to see our kiddos participating in our weekly spirit days this year, and we're looking forward to sharing loads of pictures of our adorable kiddos with you in future Roadrunner Reports!

Some Info from Our Special Areas Teachers...

We are asking all students to bring in their own personal art smocks. Their smocks do not have to be fancy but just an old oversized t-shirt. Please make sure that smocks that DO NOT have any ties or complicated ways to put on since it takes a chunk of our creative art time!

Sneakers and Water Bottles Students should wear sneakers on P.E days for Mr. Norton and Ms. Kelly’s P.E class. Many classes have P.E multiple times a week and it is safer to wear sneakers outside on the playground during recess. When the weather starts to change, students should be wearing long pants and bring a sweatshirt in case P.E is outside that day. Students are allowed to bring their own personal water bottles to P.E (and to library if switching with P.E that day).

Students will start off the year by learning how to take care of and check out books in the library. First and Second graders will most likely start checking out their library books at the end of September or early October because this information is a review for them. Kindergartners can look forward to checking out books in mid to late October.
