Yearbook Cover Contest Winner

Malakai T. designed the artwork that will grace the cover of the 2018-19 Sunset Ranch yearbook! He thoughtfully included images that showcased our mascot, the coyote, and many symbols representing our S.T.E.A.M.S. focus (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math, and Service Learning). Don't forget to buy your yearbook ASAP so you don't miss the great price and you are still guaranteed to get one.

Thank you, Site Council and RFD!

On Thursday, January 24th, the Site Council met with a representative from the Rocklin Fire Department to pass the Comprehensive Safety Plan. The plan includes school crime data like suspensions, and survey data like Health Kids and School Climate. Did you know that our 5th graders reported this year that NONE of them have ever smoked or vaped? Great news - let's keep that statistic going! It also includes Rocklin Board of Education policies and administrative regulations, and school rules. The plan was approved and will now be passed along to the RUSD Board for final approval or changes.

Help us install our tiles!

We are seeking the help of a licensed contractor who feels confident or has experience in installing ceramic tiles on the concrete surrounding our amphitheater. If this sounds like you or a friend, and you are willing and able to donate your services or help us for a very low fee, please reach out to us here at Sunset Ranch. We have years of tiles that students and families designed and we need to get displayed!

Pedestrian Safety - 10 Walking Tips

  1. Be predictable. Follow the rules of the road and obey signs and signals.
  2. Walk on sidewalks whenever they are available.
  3. If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic and as far from traffic as possible.
  4. Keep alert at all times; don’t be distracted by electronic devices that take your eyes (and ears) off the road.
  5. Whenever possible, cross streets at crosswalks or intersections, where drivers expect pedestrians. Look for cars in all directions, including those turning left or right.
  6. If a crosswalk or intersection is not available, locate a well-lit area where you have the best view of traffic. Wait for a gap in traffic that allows enough time to cross safely; continue watching for traffic as you cross.
  7. Never assume a driver sees you. Make eye contact with drivers as they approach to make sure you are seen.
  8. Be visible at all times. Wear bright clothing during the day, and wear reflective materials or use a flashlight at night.
  9. Watch for cars entering or exiting driveways, or backing up in parking lots.
  10. Avoid alcohol and drugs when walking; they impair your abilities and your judgment.
