Updates & Reminders for Monday
Virtual Learning Begins Monday, April 13, 2020
Wi-Fi Needs
Xfinity - All of our Chromebooks have been set to look for Xfinity which has increased it's signal and bandwidth. All Chromebooks should automatically look for this service to connect to the internet. This isn't perfect - at my house - the signal is not strong enough and I have to ensure I am on my home Wi-Fi.
Comcast - For students who qualify for Free or Reduced price lunch, you can get Comcast internet for $10 per month which does not require a long-term contract. If you have had Comcast service in the past or a past-due bill, Comcast is still allowing families to utilize this service. You will need to have a copy of your Free or Reduced Lunch Eligibility letter in order to qualify for this service.
Hot Spot - If either of these options absolutely do not work for you, please contact the office at Delaine Eastin.
QR Codes for TK - 2
If you have picked up a Chromebook for your child in TK - 2nd Grade, you were given your child's QR code with the Chromebook.
For all other TK - 2nd Grade students who have not picked up a Chromebook, your QR code is being sent in the mail. You may not receive it by Monday. Students can also log into their Google accounts with their email and password. You can contact your child's teacher if you need this information.
School News App
Dear Eastin Community,
We will start to use the School News app by Edlio, an activity feed for consuming alerts, news, and events for participating schools. It’s a simple way to view the school’s news feeds and calendars, and also receive push notifications directly from us.
It’s free to download to your iOS or Android phone and quick to set up:
- Go to the App Store or Google Play and search for “School News by Edlio” to install.
- Open the app and search for the school; tap “Add School.” If you have kids in other Edlio-powered schools, add them to the app too.
- Enable push notification by going to the Alerts tab and tapping “Enable Notifications.”
All of the news and events posted to our website are posted here for easy access. You can also add multiple Edlio-powered schools and/or districts to gather all news, events, and alerts in this one app. We’ll send push notifications out to keep you updated on urgent news.
