A Monthly Resource for Teaching the Faith 11.22
"Let your chief study be to acquaint yourself with God because there is nothing greater than God, and because it is the only knowledge which can fill the Heart with a Peace and joy, which nothing can disturb. "
This month we pray for the Catechists at:
Holy Spirit Church, Penfield
Holy Trinity, Webster
Immaculate Conception, Ithaca
Immaculate Conception/St. Bridget's, Rochester
Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish, Interlaken-Ovid-Trumansburg
Parish of the Most Holy Name of Jesus, Elmira
Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Brockport
Our Lady of Lourdes, Brighton
Our Lady of Peace Parish, Geneva
Our Lady of the Lake Church, King Ferry
Shaped by the Source and Summit
Connect the Eucharist to the Feast of St. Lucy to help those you catechize better understand the Source and Summit of our Faith. Plant wheat grass with your students on (or near) the Feast of St. Lucy (December 13) By Christmas, you will have sprouted wheat that can be placed at your church manger to remind all that CHRIST is the BREAD OF LIFE! Individual kits can be purchased for 89 cents a piece at the link below if you want to provide a wheat planting kit for each family home! The tradition is a popular Advent tradition in some European countries!
Praying All Ways and ALWAYS!
Advent Prayers in the Manger
Create a manger out of a cardboard box, or bring in a doll's cradle. Provide participants with strips of tan-colored paper. Invite each participant to write a prayer of longing for this season on a paper strip. The prayer can be for themselves, their family, or the world. Allow them to write as many intentions as they have. You may want to review what a prayer intention sounds like so that they don't confuse it with a wish for a gift. Encourage them to add their prayer to the manger to make a bed for the Incarnate Jesus!
Family Connection
Keep Learning!
