Seussical - Update
It’s nearly time!
Just a few last minute reminders before our amazing performance…
Our pre dress rehearsal this morning was amazing. You are in for a real treat.
Audio recording
Wow what a spectacular time we had on Wednesday morning, recording the sound for the DVD. Chris, the sound technician, was amazed at the quality of our children’s singing and how professionally they conducted themselves.
Final arrangements
A letter was sent home on Wednesday detailing all drop off and pick times for all the shows. We will be running to very tight schedules on the mornings so please arrive at school by the specified times. We appreciate this is all a little different but when you see the show I hope you agree that all the hard work has been worth it.
Tickets
TUESDAY PERFORMANCE - PLEASE CAN THE AUDIENCE BE IN AND SEATED BY 9.15AM TO GIVE US A LITTLE EXTRA TIME TO DELIVER OUR SHOW AND CLEAR THE HALL FOR SHS.
Please remember to bring your ticket with you to save time on the door!
We have full houses on Wednesday and Thursday night – all of these 200 tickets have been allocated. (Wow!) We do still have availability for the Tuesday morning at 9.30 am and Wednesday afternoon at 2 pm. Please contact the school office if you would like to order these.
In the unlikely event, that you do not want tickets for either of the evening performances, we have a large waiting list, so please return these as soon as possible.
Items available to purchase at the performances
As we haven’t charged for tickets for the performances, we have put together a small number of items you may wish to purchase as mementos of the event. These not only give us a chance to make some money back to cover the costs of this fantastic event, but hopefully also give you the opportunity to have a special reminder of this whole school event.
Professionally designed and printed programmes £5
(includes photographs all classes and main characters)
CD of photographs £5
Includes over hundreds of photos of our pre-performance photo shoot and also photographs taken at the dress rehearsal and performances. This is a great way to ensure that your enjoyment (and that of those around you) is not spoilt by the taking photographs. The show is very pacey, and you would probably miss some of the action!
DVD of the full performance £7.50
T-shirts - souvenir t-shirts with the show name and year £8
Raffle tickets £1 per strip
We have more than 16 fantastic prizes that have been donated by local businesses. Tickets will be sold at each performance with a grand prize draw at school on Friday afternoon. Winning numbers will be published on the newsletter and at school.
Bottles of water 50p
And of course, if you enjoy the show, there will also be donation buckets to hand at the end of each show!
As always, if you have any questions, concerns or feedback, do feel free to contact me.
I am getting very excited about what promises to be a really spectacular whole school community event.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Staffing Update
Staffing Update
As most of you will be aware Mrs Keelan’s time with us has been temporary and she will be leaving us at the end of the academic year. We have really enjoyed having her at South Milford and hope that she will return for the odd day of supply cover.
I am delighted to share with you that we will have two new members of staff joining our school team in September. We welcome Mrs Polly Wright and Miss Harriet Shaw, who both will be teaching in Key stage 2 next year.
Sports' Day
Sports day was a massive success this year.
The children loved competing in; egg and spoon, beanbag and the sprint. Each and every child showed exceptional resilience and pushed themselves to be the best they could be. It was a pleasure to see the children supporting and encouraging one another.
A special thank you to the ‘Sports Leaders’, they showed fantastic organisational skills. They efficiently set up the lanes and handed out stickers to participants as well as competing themselves.
I would also like to thank Sherburn Co-op,who donated the ice lollies, which was a refreshing treat after a sporty afternoon.
Finally, I would like to say a huge thank you to Miss Bee who organised the afternoon and made sure that all the children and adults had an enjoyable afternoon.
We hope you had a lovely afternoon, thank you for joining us.

Winning Team
Peer Mediators
We have been really impressed with the committed a small group of year 5 children have made by training to be Shine Leaders ( Peer Mediators). The training has enabled them to develop crucial skills for supporting their peers to address and resolve problems and issues on the playground and within school. We would like to run two more sessions to solidify this training, after school on Monday 1st and 8th July.
