What is diabetes?
Diabetes is a condition where your body doesn't process food properly to use as energy. This causes a build-up of glucose in your body to where you have too much.

Complications
- Higher risk for- blindness, heart disease, kidney failure,lower-extremity amputations.
- Overweight before pg
- Family with diabetes
- Previous GDM
- Abnormal blood tests
- 9+ lbs. baby/previous stillbirth
Testing and Treatments
Treatments:
- Diet control
- home blood glucose testing
- oral medication and/or insulin
- FBG Blood test
Prevention and Life Outlook
Prevention:
Outlook:
- Make sure to increase physical activity
- Watch your diet while pregnant
Outlook:
- Life-long condition
- Often have to take shots/meds
