Staff Sparklight - Ms. Compton
This week, we are featuring one of our classroom assistants, Ms. Megan Compton. Ms. Compton is from Manchester and went to Parkway South, followed by Mizzou for college, graduating in 2014 with a degree in elementary education.
Here is a little more about Ms. Compton:
How long have you been at Kellison?
This is my second year.
Tell us about your family:
Both my parents are deaf so I am bilingual, with sign language being my first language. I have my mom, Kimberly, and dad, Mark. I have a younger sister, Kayla, who is 22 and a younger brother, Kenny, who is 20. I also have my dog Texas, two cats, and a turtle at home. My mom is from New York so we spend quite a bit of time there, as well!
What did you want to be when you were little?
When I was little I wanted to be a teacher or a marine biologist. I was always really into dolphins, so being a marine biologist seemed really cool, but there are a lot of teachers in my family, so I was always interested in teaching and always played school with my cousins.
What are you most proud of?
Either graduating from Mizzou with honors or working with the rescue I got Texas from while I was at Mizzou.
What makes you happy?
Spending time with my family, especially my cousins because we are all so close, watching a student finally understand a concept we have been working on, and visiting my family in New York. The Blues winning games also makes me really happy, as well!
What's your favorite thing to do?
Spending time with my family, friends, and my dog. Going to Blues' games and basically anything outdoors, especially kayaking. I also love traveling, Seattle has been my favorite place so far!
Best Kellison memory ...
My best Kellison memory is either the teacher dance last year or the ice bucket challenge. The teacher dance was just so much fun to be a part of and I got to know some other staff members better. The ice bucket challenge was my first school activity I was a part of and really hit home because of the cause!
