Hello Norris Students and Families!/Hola estudiantes y familias de Norris!
Thank you for your support!
Gracias por su apoyo!
Dr. Carrie Carr, Principal
Dra. Carrie Carr. Directora
6th Grade Team/6O Grado
It’s been a great, but cold, 3rd quarter for our 6th graders and we can’t believe we are close to the end! The students started off the quarter with MAP testing.
On January 31, we went on a field trip to the symphony. They tied story elements with music from Romeo & Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Harry Potter!
Students whose birthdays are in January and February also celebrated their birthdays during Redbird Block.
Looking forward, students will have state testing on April 16 and 17.
We will be taking two more field trips; one to the horse show and the other to see a baseball game. We are hoping the weather is much nicer then!
In math, students have been working on expressions and equations.
In social studies, they are finishing up Ancient Rome and now will be starting Medieval Europe.
In language arts, students have been reading stories about making your voice heard. They are currently writing an argumentative essay.
In science, students have completed the Energy unit and are learning about cells and human systems.
6th gade DL students in Language Arts presented speeches on a topic choosing a side, giving a claim, and providing evidence to convince their listeners to choose their side of whether or not people should own exotic animals.
Hello!/Hola!
Team 7A/Equipo 7A
Third quarter is well underway and students on Team 7A are very busy in all their core classes. Students have been working very hard learning new content and technology daily.
The teachers on Team 7A would like to remind parents and students that it is important for students to come to class prepared to learn and that they bring the necessary materials that are needed for them to be successful. Students should be bringing a writing utensil, their agenda, textbooks, paper or notebooks, reading book, homework, and charged iPad to class with them every day. The teachers on the team are going to be periodically checking on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to see if students have their iPad and if it is charged. Students who are meeting the team’s expectations are going to be rewarded! As we reach the end of the quarter, we want to remind students that now is the time to get any and all missing assignments turned in to their teachers. If students are not sure what they are missing they can check their grades online, look on Teams (this is an app on their iPad), or talk to their teacher during Redbird block or afterschool. We want to see your child reach their greatest potential and we enjoy welcoming them into our classrooms every day. We hope they have a restful and relaxing spring break and when they return, we hope that they are ready to break through some personal goals and knock out the NSCAS test. Have a great spring break!
