A MESSAGE FROM MR. COLE
Pine Road Families,
It is hard to believe that we are already a full month into 2021 and starting the third marking period! February is a short but busy month here at Pine Road. Please be reminded that students attending school in-person should come dressed for the weather! We will try to utilize outdoor spaces as much as possible this month to give students a much-needed break and some fresh air, so please make sure they come to school with warm weather gear!
Additionally, February 1st-5th is the American School Counselor Association’s National School Counseling Week. The purpose of this week is to “focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems.” I want to be the first to recognize our phenomenal counseling team’s hard work and dedication at Pine Road. Ms. Harris and Mrs. Dallahan work tirelessly to facilitate ALL students’ academic and social-emotional success at Pine Road!
Lastly, keep an eye tuned on our Pine Road Virtual Events Page this month. We will begin the month with a celebration of Black History Month. This holiday started as the brainchild of the historian Carter G. Woodson. It was officially recognized in 1976 by President Ford to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” To help us towards this end, please enjoy some read-alouds on the Virtual Events Page curated by our own Mrs. Zschunke in addition to classroom lessons and activities.
Towards the middle of the month, please also enjoy some Virtual Valentine’s materials on the Virtual Events Page. We do ask that families refrain from sending in physical valentines this year. Your child(rens) teacher will be in touch to communicate their specific Valentine’s plans for the class.
I wish you all a happy and healthy February!
Sincerely,
Scott Cole
Principal

As we move into Tax Season, we invite you to learn more on how you can decrease your Tax Liability while investing in your school. If you own a business or work for a company in the state of Pennsylvania, now is the time to act. Through Education Tax Improvement Credit Program, businesses can donate up to $750,000 each year to EITC-eligible organizations, and then claim 75 percent of that donation as a credit that offsets their state tax bill.
