Students in the Automotive and Engineering Programs Learn About STEM Careers
Students in the automotive and engineering pathways at Madison took part in the NHRA STEM YES program in Pomona last week to learn about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) careers sponsored by the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). Founded in 1951, the NHRA was created to get hot-rodders off the streets and into a safer environment. Today, the NHRA is the world’s largest motorsports sanctioning body and the foremost promoter of drag racing in the world. The NHRA Youth & Education Services (YES) Program was founded in 1989. It is the only full-time education program in motorsports that provides quality programs and activities for schools and youth organizations nationwide. With a focus on the importance of goals and continued education, it encourages students to learn about and explore a multitude of career opportunities in STEM as applied to both, real world situations and NHRA Drag Racing, which they had the opportunity to see live at the track.
