Update on Possible COVID-19 Disruptions
This week, you received an email from BISD with an important message and video from Dr. Matt Smith. You may also view it below. We are so proud of our teachers and other staff members for stepping up to substitute teach and keep in-person learning going at BMS. We also had assistance in classrooms from BISD administration this week. We love the support of our United Community Community of Learning here in Belton ISD! We also appreciate parents partnering with us during this time.
Big Red Community,
COVID-19 numbers continue to rise in our community. Face-to-face learning is our preference, and we are working hard to minimize disruptions to our students and families. We do, however, want to be transparent about the challenges COVID-19 is creating in our ability to conduct school as normal.
Belton ISD, like many industries, is experiencing staff absences that could impact our ability to provide bus transportation, food service or even classroom instruction. When potential disruptions occur, the district may have limited lead time to inform you of cancellations or changes to schedules and services.
Similar to a bad weather event, we will communicate updates or changes by email and text message. Please watch for these messages — especially early in the morning or late in the evening — and have a plan in place now in case your student’s bus route is delayed or cancelled or there’s a short-term closure of your student’s classroom or school.

Looking for a way to get involved??? WATCH D.O.G.S. Kickoff Event Coming Soon
We have made some slight adjustments and we will be moving forward with starting our WATCH D.O.G.S. program. We are currently in the planning phase for our kickoff event and we will communicate a "save the date" very soon! The event will be in our cafeteria where there is plenty of room to spread out. If you are unable to attend in person, we will also share the presentation out after the event and you will still have an opportunity to join this amazing group of parents.
WATCH D.O.G.S. is one of the nation’s largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement, organizations in the country. Since the program’s creation in 1998, more than 6,800 schools across the country have launched a WATCH D.O.G.S. program of their own. Each school year hundreds of thousands of fathers and father-figures make a positive impact on millions of children by volunteering millions of hours in their local schools through this amazing one-of-a-kind program. Who are WatchDOGS? Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day a year in a variety of school activities. More information coming soon!
