early release thursday
It is time to start making "You Are Awesome Referrals"!
In order to recognize the positive choices and behaviors that Dunning students exhibit on a daily basis, and teach students the importance of positive behaviors, we have implemented then Positive Recognition Referral program.
Students can be referred for demonstrating positive and kind behaviors during the school day and at school sponsored activities that support our school’s core values of being respectful, responsible and ready to learn. Any Dunning staff member can refer a student by completing a Positive Referral Form. The form will be sent to Ms. Schecter and Mrs. Lasky and a copy will be sent home to the parents.
Students will also be entered into a drawing. At the end of each 9 weeks, two names entered into the drawing will be randomly chosen. The winners will receive a pizza lunch with two of their friends.
You can find the referral form and the link to a google document to add student information on the PBIS Shared document.

- Every student (except our newcomers) should have an instructional score.
- If you did not test a child on BAS b/c he/she is a newcomer, please make a note of this in the "notes" column.

iReady Updates
i-Ready Updates (this information can also be found when you click the question mark image at the bottom right of the screen when you're in iReady):
- The To Do page on the student dashboard is accessible to students with visual, auditory, and physical impairments.
- Teachers can gauge the progress of a student towards reaching a Mid On Grade Level placement, which indicates a student has achieved the expectations of their grade-level standards at the end of the school year. The scale score needed to reach this placement level is now clearly shown in the student reports for Diagnostic Results and Diagnostic Growth.
- Download what you see on screen by selecting new CSV download buttons on the school- and district-level reports for Diagnostic Results and Online Instruction.
- Column headers in your reports are sticky, so you always know what data you're viewing as you scroll down a report.
- Scale scores are shown in Instructional Groupings, so you don't need to click into a separate report to see them.

End of Unit Assessment
Purpose:
The End of Unit Assessment (EOU) is designed to support standards-based instruction. The EOU is intended to help teachers plan with the end in mind as well as provide data to determine which students have mastered standards and which students will need ongoing support to meet the standards. Such data will allow us to ensure all students have mastered the appropriate grade-level standards by the end of the year.
Our hope is to use these assessments to hold all students to high expectations while also providing the support they need to achieve those high expectations.
Administration:
Here are some things to keep in mind while administering EOU:
Make sure you are using the 2019-2020 version
Assessments have been designed for most students to complete in one 60-minute block. In consultation with your coach and team, some assessments may be extended to two 60-minute blocks.
Analyze the EOU at the start of the unit to deepen your understanding of the standards and the expected unit outcomes. Please do not share items with students before administering the EOU.
Please do not review the specific items with students in advance of the EOU as this may unintentionally inflate scores and misclassify students in need of intervention as proficient. Questions similar to those on the EOU may be present in the normal course of teaching throughout the unit. Review items should not directly mirror the assessment items.
When scoring:
No double jeopardy for constructed responses (e.g. If student answers part b correctly based on on INCORRECT part a, they receive credit for part b but not part a.)
Score using whole points (unless otherwise noted, no half points allowed)
Assessment Data Collection Sheets:
The 2019-2020 EOU Data Sheets have been shared with grades 1-5. They have been conditionally formatted to reflect the revised 2019-2020 versions.
PLEASE DO NOT CUT AND PASTE OR COPY AND PASTE FROM COLUMN TO COLUMN. This will change the conditional formatting rules and your data will be misrepresented.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Lauren
