Home of the Thrill Seekers

What's Up?

The month of March always goes so fast! This week, we had a guest speaker who reviewed WW2 with us, took a practice Georgia Milestones Test, and had picture day. Whew! We finished up our WW2 unit and our coordinate graphing unit. We began learning about shapes, and continued our electricity unit.

What's Next...

In Math, students will continue learning about classifying shapes and they will have a test on Friday. In Science, your child will build an electromagnet and begin learning about earth science. The Cold War and Civil Rights Movement will be the focus during Social Studies the next few weeks, and we will focus on informational writing during ELA time.

Looking for something to do?

I spent some time at Panola Mountain State Park this weekend, and next Saturday, March 14th, they are having reptile day. It's from 10-3. It's $5 to park and $3 to get in. I thought some of you might be interested.

Student Successes

Congratulations to Makinlee who finished the 5th grade ALEKS program. She is now working on 6th grade Math. Way to go!
Our January and February Students of the month are David and Gabby. Congratulations to them!
Grace competed in the District Speaking Contest for 4-H over the Winter Break and came in 2nd place. Great job!

Your child must master ALL ALEKS concepts by April 14th. Please make sure they are doing 1-2 concepts a night. Many students are behind, and they will miss their recess to catch up.

Science Fair Conclusions

This is the last checkpoint before the projects are due. Your child has 3 weeks to get their Science Fair investigation done.

Classroom Needs- DESPERATE!

We are in desperate need of the following items. By the end of this week, we will be totally out of:
1. wide ruled notebook paper
2. tissues
3. paper towels

If you can donate any of these items, I would greatly appreciate it.

If your child is going to Wahsega, please remember the donations of granola bars are due by THIS WEDNESDAY, March 11th. Thank you!
