Technology Update

We are excited to announce that the Life School Board of Directors recently approved the purchase of additional technology devices made possible by a recent matching grant opportunity through TEA. The purchase of these new devices will allow Life School to be 1:1 for all students K-12, later this school year. Due to a nation-wide device shortage, these devices may not be delivered before the start of school and will be distributed at a later date. Additionally, we will be able to supply a limited number of hot spots to our students in need of access to WiFi.

As a reminder, please take a moment to complete this short Technology & Wellness Survey no later than August 9th.

For families in need of access to Wifi, please view these resources located here.

Vaccination Update

The deadline to turn in updated vaccination records to your student’s school has been

  1. Student Success Bag (essential school supplies, classroom manipulatives, leveled readers, pertinent classroom handouts)
  2. Hangtags- needed for student pick up upon return to campus. Please complete the Authorization Form.
  3. Device pick up (if needed)- Complete the Technology Checkout Authorization Form.

Hangtag Authorization Form

In an effort to streamline material pickup and reduce the amount of paper exchanged, we are asking every family to complete the the Hangtag Authorization Form online prior to Material Pick Up on August 13th and 14th.

Please include anyone you think will pick up your student from campus upon returning to school. Hangtags are required for every family (even guardians) that will pick up a student(s). Driver's License # must be provide for each authorized person picking up. Hangtags will NOT be issued for incomplete information.

Complete the Hangtag Authorization Form by Wednesday, August 12th.

Technology Checkout Authorization Form

If you are requesting to use a device (Chromebook or Chrome Tablet) during remote learning, please complete the Technology Checkout Authorization Form prior to attending the Materials Pickup Day so we can have one ready for you.

Lunch and Lunch Forms

Lunches will be available for pick up during remote learning. TEA is not providing funding to schools to cover cost of lunches for all students. This year, only enrolled students will be allowed to receive lunches from LSC and their accounts will be charged. Make sure to fill out the Lunch Form to retain your lunch designation (Free/Reduced). These forms must be completed annually. Even if you think you may not qualify, completing this form does help our campus qualify for Title 1. This is important for our campus so we can receive federal funding to support programs for our students and staff.

Book Swap Sign-up

Our priority is developing readers and to do that students need access to books. Students will be provide 3 leveled readers in their Success Bags to get them started. When you student has mastered these books, please return the books to the school and swap them out for new titles.

Here is a link to the Book Swap Sign-up. The first day Book Swap is open is Aug 31. We look forward to seeing you.

School Start and Times

All Life School students will begin on August 19th via remote learning until at least September 8th. Due to the delayed start of school date, we have revised the District Calendar. Life School was able to make up the days with minimal impact to the calendar. You can view the updated version here. Start time is adjusted to 7:50 am.

2020-2021 School Supplies

If you ordered your school supplies from EPI, they are here. You may choose to pick-up your supplies, but please remember when we return to face-to-face instruction, students will be asked to provide some of the supplies for their classroom learning. This year especially, there will not be community supplies for students to use, so it is imperative students provide the requested items.

If you choose to pick-up your supplies, please email to schedule a time.

Supply List

Google Support

I know one of the anxieties I would have about remote learning is navigating the learning platforms your student will be expected to use. We are streamlining assignments through Google Classroom. Teachers are asked to combine all subjects into on place to reduce the places parents and students need to go in order to access their assignments.

Here is a Google Classroom Parent Tutorial and a step by step PDF.
