Weekly Update
Our PAWsome Attendance Program is off to a great start! Last week, many Sorrick students and staff members participated in our Attendance Spirit Week. It was great to see everyone showing up on time and dressed for success! Be sure to check out the pictures of students participating in Spirit Week in the slideshow below.
If you come to visit us at the front vestibule, you may notice our daily attendance rating scale. It has been great to see the daily percent of students in attendance! This week, 95% of students were in attendance throughout the week. Our goal for next week is 96%. Here is our weekly Attendance News Update for the breakdown by class.
Classes have also started playing our attendance game called "Attendance-Opoly" when they receive a "spin the wheel ticket" for having great attendance. It's a spin on the original Monopoly game and allows the entire class an opportunity to earn an extra reward.
We appreciate your help and support in making sure your child is here and ready to learn each day. It is a team effort to teach them about the value of attending school, and we are grateful for your efforts. Let's have another week of fantastic attendance!

5Essentials Survey for Parents
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey for parents will be available until February 15, 2019. This survey is to be completed by parents, guardians, or other caregivers with a child in grades pre-kindergarten through 12. The parent survey is available in both English and Spanish, and only takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin.
If you have more than one child and they attend the same school, you may elect to participate multiple times. For parents with children enrolled in multiple schools, we recommend that they participate in the survey for each school. Only one parent per household may participate in the survey.
For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, or to view previous years’ Reports, please visit https://www.5-essentials.org/illinois. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact 5Essentials Client Services at 1-866-440-1874 or 5essentials@uchicago.edu.
Outdoor Recess in Winter Weather
Please remember to send your child to school with appropriate attire for the cold weather. If the temperature is 20 degrees and above (including windchill), students will have outdoor recess. If the temperature dips below 20 degrees, students will have indoor recess.
