BAND informational meeting is this Tuesday, September 8th at 9:00 a.m.

Our Vista Oaks Vendor, Justin Wilson, will be forming a band for students in grades 4-8! It will be a beginner level band starting with teaching students how to read and play notes with a recorder, but all levels of ability are invited! The class will be on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:25-9:25 a.m. Students may choose to come one class a week or two. Classes will be $10 each per student and if your student takes Tuesday and Thursday classes, they will get a discounted price of $8 per class!

An informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 8th at 9:00 a.m. in the Oak Room (room 13) and the band classes will officially begin Tuesday, September 22nd.

We're so excited to be able to offer this opportunity to our Vista Oaks students!

Be kind to one another!

For some of our kiddos, enrichment is the first time since last school year that they've been on a campus with this many children. It would be really helpful for you to have conversation with your children about safe and kind choices, especially reminding them to keep their hands to themselves and handle conflicts with words. There are several adults present during recess to help.

Life is an Adventure!

Go Farther

Go Higher

Go Venturing

A Venturing Crew is a fun-filled , co-ed organization that is run, organized and executed by young men and women ages 14 - 20.

Venturing's purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. The program is full of exciting and meaningful activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, develop leadership skills, and become good citizens.

What do Venturers do? You decide the outings and activities. Do you enjoy camping? River rafting? Sporting Events? Movies? Archery? Game nights? Hiking? Horseback riding? You make the decisions. You plan the adventures.

Scholastic Book Orders

Would you like to purchase fun books for your children and help our school earn more books at the same time? If so, you can go to www.Scholastic.com/ReadlingClub and enter our "class code": P7VC6. What a fun opportunity to help build our school and your home libraries at the same time!

What a wonderful first week of enrichment!

A few updates and reminders:

  • Please send your children in shoes appropriate for P.E., with a water bottle, sunscreen on, and with a nut-free snack and lunch.
  • Please drop off your children and pick them up as close to the start and end times as possible! We don't have the same adults available to supervise students in the Oak Room as we did last year. Thank you!

If you have a child who has a severe food allergy, please be sure that you have filled out an allergy plan this year for us to share with each teacher. If you still need one, please talk with Megan.

Allergy Advisory Team

Would you be interested in joining our Allergy Advisory Team? This team would only meet virtually and would be a group of "experts" (most likely parents of children with severe allergies) who would help review lists of items to be used in science experiments or in other class activities to ensure that the ingredients are safe for our students with allergies.

For instance, some of you who have children in Sue Matt's Science class received an email asking if your child is allergic to one of the following items:

· Vegetable oil · Honey · Dish soap · Rubbing alcohol · Corn syrup · Food dyes · Popcorn kernels · Corks · Grape tomatoes

Having an advisory team that knows of the allergies we have on site would be a resource we could go to for help in reviewing that list.

If you're interested in being a part of this team, please email megan.balderas@vistaoaks.net Thank you!

We are looking for 8th graders to be jurors for the high school mock trial. If you are interested in being on the jury for the December mock trial, please contact Charmaine if you have questions or want to sign up at Charmaine.Abasolo@vistaoaks.net

We (still!) need wonderful volunteers like you!

We are still in need of a couple of volunteers, especially for Tuesday. Would you like to volunteer during your child's enrichment day? We're looking for helpers during lunch and recess from 11:40 a.m.- 12:10 p.m. This will allow our excellent teachers the chance to enjoy their full lunch time! If you are interested in coming consistently to help during that time each week, please email megan.balderas@vistaoaks.net. Thank you for considering this opportunity to help!

Thank you so much to Michelle, Jana, and Sayra for helping out at lunch! We're so grateful to have you!
