PHS Swimming Finishes Strong!
PHS Swimming
NCS Results
Petaluma High School Girls Swimming’s representation at the North Coast Section Swimming and Diving Championships grew from a single swimmer in 2018 to two individual swimmers and a relay team in 2019.
Junior Ana Larson returned in the 100 Breaststroke and was joined in the event by freshman Katie Honey. Larson posted a 1:07.53 to finish 19th in the field of 40. Honey swam a 1:08.79 to finish 32nd.
The two breaststrokers were joined on Petaluma’s 200 Medley Relay team by sophomore Abby Kreutz and freshman Sasha Andrews. They finished 39th at 1:56.84. That time bettered the school record that stood at the start of the 2019 season by almost five seconds but was two seconds slower than the new school record established by the same four swimmers at the VVAL Championship Meet the week before of 1:54.80.
Every year, the North Coast Section Swimming and Diving Championships is one of the fastest high school swim meets in the country. Just qualifying is an accomplishment, but the Trojan Lady swimmers are not satisfied with just making the field. They are confident that they will return in 2020, in greater number, and make a run at the top 16 in their respective events, with a chance to swim in the finals.
Plant Sale This Week After School - Go the Greenhouse!
Kim reminds us that the greenhouse will be open this week after school until 4:30 if you would like to come out and get some plants.
Most of what we have is in 4" pots or 6-packs and is priced at $2 each. We have some succulents that are priced slightly higher and one large chicken feeder with succulents priced at $40. We have bedding plants, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes and cantaloupes. Hopefully, we will see you some time this week!

The PHS Facility - Under Review! (Participation Encouraged!)
Last week, we discussed the potential growth in the campus in the next few years, and the need for some additional classrooms. We also looked at the possibility of adding a "field house" near the existing gym for wrestling, as well as to take the pressure off the Multi Building. The likelihood of a stand alone Performing Arts Center is unlikely, according to the district, and the Multi stage is the likely way to enhance the drama program.
A second meeting is scheduled for May 15th at 3:30pm in the PHS Library. Please join us with your ideas and input.
