We Made It!
Hello Raider Nation --
Congratulations -- We made it to the final week before Spring Break! There are a lot of things happening this week so please mark your calendars. Monday afternoon is a staff meeting, Thursday is a PIP, and Friday is the school-wide assembly. Also, there are several meetings this week.
A portion of the PIP this week will be devoted to the new survey for staff for our school report card. The Every Student Succeeds Act requires that a state include not less than one indicator of school quality or school success in the state’s accountability system. Maryland’s Protect Our Schools Act of 2017 requires that one of the school quality indicators shall be school climate surveys administered to students and educators. The purpose of the survey is to provide the school, the school system, and the State with valuable information about each school’s learning environment. Information gathered from the survey will ensure that schools across the State promote a climate that supports student learning, and that educators receive critical instructional feedback.
The survey will be administered to certificated educators during your PIP period on April 11 in CC1. Please arrive promptly with a charged laptop. You will receive your login information and be asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. There will be two sessions offered during period 4, one beginning at 10:15 and another at 11:15.
The survey will ask educators and students questions on topics such as student engagement, interactions with others at the school, the school environment, and school safety. Your responses will be combined with the responses from other educators at the school. The survey is confidential and no one in the school will have access to the responses of specific students or educators. Survey results will be reported only at the level of each school and school system. Please take this seriously as it is a part of our overall school report card.
Lastly, the latter part of this week (Thursday and Friday) I will be in New York City meeting with the President of the American Federation of School Administrators (AFSA). My work will focus on bringing back ideas and strategies to be used for administrators right here in Howard County. Any suggestions on what to do the weekend?
I wish everyone a safe and relaxing Spring Break. No newsletter next week (smile).
Have a fantastic week!
See you tomorrow!
Robert
