Hillcrest Family Newsletter
Friday, October 6th
October Hello!
Hillcrest had more to celebrate this week as members of our SAIL Team presented to the Teaching and Learning Committee on how our students and teachers have grown throughout the last year at Hillcrest. We also celebrated a strong launch to our school year for students and our staff. The Teaching and Learning Committee was proud of all the hard work from our teachers and students. Here's to more success in the month of November!
It was great to see many of you at the sock hop!

October Dates
Please add these important October dates to your family calendar:
Wednesday, October 25th is an early release day - students are dismissed at 1:40PM on this day. Run, Play, Run will NOT be running on this day. 4K does NOT come to school on that day. Y Care will run from dismissal through their regular close time on that day.
Thursday, October 26th is a professional development day for staff so students do not come to school.

Afternoon Transportation
If you have any changes to your child's afternoon pick up, please send a note or email to your child's teacher in the morning before school starts. If changes are made a some point throughout the school day, call the office to notify the school and the office will notify the teacher and the student. Whenever possible, please notify the school of changes before the school day.
Hillcrest Cares
Our 2nd -5th grade students will begin their work with the clients at The Caring Place during the month of October. This is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our ties to the community and to build compassion and leadership with our students. Interested students were asked to submit an "application" this week and we teachers will communicate to students and families who will be participating later this month. This group is now being called "Hillcrest Cares" (rather that Student Council) to celebrate how our student care about our community!
Box Tops for Education
Our Box Tops donation basket is looking a little empty/ low. Please send any of your General Mills Box Tops by next Friday, October 13th. These donations go to support programs across our school and is greatly appreciated.
Fall Fest
Information on Hillcrest's Fall Fest activities will be sent home early next week. Each grade is planning how Fall Fest will work in their classrooms this year. We will have the information available to families soon! Thank you for your interest and patience!
