The Sandshore Scoop
Week Ending November 27, 2020
A Message from Ms. Curry
As I reflect upon the upcoming holiday, I want to take a moment to share how thankful I am to be a part of the Sandshore School family. Despite the many challenges we have faced over the past months, I continue to be so impressed with the students, parents, and staff of our school community and look forward to the day when the halls are again filled with all of our students, laughing, smiling, and learning together. I wish you and your families the happiest of Thanksgivings and hope you enjoy the holiday weekend.

Important Update from Dr. Zywicki
In-person student lunch update
Free and Reduced Lunch Update
Per N.J.A.C. 2:36-1.5(d), "Students are eligible for school meal benefits or free milk for the school year and up to 30 operating days in the subsequent school year". As of October 21, 2020, all students who previously qualified for free and reduced lunch in the 2019-2020 school year that have not submitted a lunch application for the 2020-2021 school year, have been reset to "paid" status. Although this has no immediate impact on any student because of the “free lunch for all”, when/if the” free lunch for all” status is lifted, students will be required to pay for their meals (breakfast and lunch) until an application has been received and processed.
To avoid an interruption in benefits please proceed to the Realtime Parent Portal to either fill out an application otherwise, please indicate that you do not wish to apply at this time. Please note that only ONE (1) application per FAMILY, is required to determine qualification status.
Meals during Thanksgiving Break
Sodexo is providing food for students/families prior to Thanksgiving break on November 23rd at MOMS. In order to minimize waste and ensure all interested receive these meal packages, we are requesting parents pre-order. ALL FOOD PROVIDED WILL BE FREE OF CHARGE. Any parent can request the package regardless of their cohort.
This is separate from the pre-order online form for in-school students at the Elementary Schools.

Students are enjoying casting their votes in the ‘polls’ option of Google Meet! It’s a great way to see who answered what on the morning journal topics, as well as to vote for the next novel for our read aloud.
