Maverick Minutes
Week of 16-20
Thank You for Making an Impact on Education at HiRMS!
The following students and staff members were recognized at the November 9th Board of Education Meeting for their impact on HiRMS and Education. Danielle Cooper was instrumental in leading our Breast Cancer Awareness Week/Ribbon Photo along with her dedication to YCI. I had the honor of hearing her perform, "Whom Shall I Fear" in honor of breast cancer survivors during a YCI meeting on October 23rd. Caleb Topper is considered one of the most respected young men of our 8th Grade class. He is involved in many extra curricular activities that include baseball, wrestling, quiz bowl and yearbook! Mr. Tinnel serves as a PLC chair, track coach, and SLT chair. He is in the Cabarrus County Leadership Cohort, sponsors the run club and is coordinator of the National Geographic Bee in which we have had state qualifiers for two consecutive years. He was recognized by his peers who stated, “Chase has led and continues to lead the SIT by advocating for staff and students when decisions are put in front of the team. Chase always has a positive attitude in the face of negativity and consistently maintains professionalism.” Mrs. Hill, has been instrumental in the development of new behavioral practices at HiRMS as we move towards an environment that targets the reason of the behavior. Her colleague states, “She is always willing to listen to the student and she tries to make sure they understand where they went wrong and how they can make it better. She’s very consistent and fair with all kids regardless of race, gender, etc. Morning detention, phone calls to parents, dress code can be a full time job and she is very professional, always dressed nice and treats students and teachers with respect.” Congratulations to all of these Mavericks!!!!
