Good Things!
Mrs. Parks says...
- Shout out to Ms. Iwule for holding scholars accountable for working until the last minute of the day! The stations were great, the analogies you had scholars to make allowed for the content to stick!
- Shout out to Ms. Wille for being on top on planning and submitting EVERYTHING in a timely manner!
- Shout out to the scholar council representatives and Ms. Baughman for making the breakfast with the Lt. a success!
- Shout out to Ms. Sanders and Mr. Mcwhorter for having scholars create their own web page using coding.
- Shout out to Coach Bell for organizing the staff cookout!
A Message From the Director
Hello Dream Team,
During this Spring break, my desire is for each of you to have a fantastic time relaxing, rejuvenating, and getting refreshed to finish out the school year! Savor the week and come back ready to hit the ground running! Try to give yourself at least 4 days of rest without interruption. Turn off your phone for a few days, unplug your computer, and just live in the moment.
Have a great break!
The Dream Team Will Fight!
Sincerely,
Andrea

3. Highlight areas on progress report to discuss with parents.
- Welcome and State the purpose
(Welcome to the last parent teacher conference, my name is ____.the purpose of this meeting is to discuss ___ grades in ______ and to create a plan of action to support them in improving their grade. We will start with parent concerns and then each teacher will address the scholar’s strengths and areas of growth)
- Allow parent to voice their concerns and take notes
- Restate the parents’ concerns in your own words. Be sure those concerns are addressed in the scholar action plan.
- Teachers share scholar’s areas of strength (academic and behavior)
- Teacher share scholar’s areas of growth. Tie these areas to the scholars detailed progress report.
- If scholar is in danger of failing your class, explain to the parent why and if his/her grade is salvageable.
_______________________ is in danger of failing my class for the year.
(Choose the correct statement below)
1. He/She currently has a(n) __________ and will need a(n) _____ in order to pass for the year.
2. He/She currently has a ____________ and unfortunately, this is not salvageable as the percent required to pass is beyond 100%.
(If the second statement is stated continue with this)
As it currently stands, the scholar will have to attend summer school. The cost for Summer school is $75. You should have received additional information about Summer school from the team distributing report cards. If you did not, *provide them with a copy* If you have additional questions about Summer school, please email Mrs. Parks at aparks@uplifteducation.org.
If present, have scholar explain their view point and understanding of expectations or what is going on that prevents them from performing at a satisfactory level.
(Scholar ____, can you explain why you have ____ missing homework assignments?
Scholar ____, it seems that you are having trouble on exit tickets? Why do you think you have having trouble with these end of class quizzes? Scholar____, I notice that your classwork is often incomplete, what is happening in class that contributes to this?
Scholar ____, I notice that you do not participate often in class, why is that?)
- Based on scholars’ areas of growth, parent input, and scholar input, create an action plan with 2 to 3 steps that the scholar and parent can implement to improve the scholar’s grade in Q3.
· Provide parent with a copy of action plan via email.
Sample Action Plan:
1. Remain for tutoring once a week on Tuesday for 3 weeks with Mrs. Parks
2. Scholar will record homework assignments daily.
3. Parent will check to verify if scholar has homework assignment completed
