Husky Happenings Family Edition
Week of February 21st
Husky Families-
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. This past week we returned to assigned seating in the cafeteria. Our huskies have become a little relaxed in making sure their trash gets into the trash cans and have been leaving the cafeteria in quite a mess. We are hoping a few weeks of assigned seating will remedy the situation. On Friday, progress reports were distributed to students who have a 75 or below in their classes. We have seen a recent uptick in the number of failures as well as the number of phone/technology violations in the classroom. We will be keeping a close eye on this trend and if it continues, we will looking at moving forward with a No Phone/Technology Policy in which Huskies will only be allowed to have technology out before/after school, for instructional purposes, and during the last 10 minutes of lunch. Stay tuned!!
Don't forget Saturday, March 5th, we will be hosting our 2nd of 2 sessions of HB 4545 Math tutoring here at HFMS. If your student is a HB 4545 Math student, please make sure they attend for in-person support.
Don't forget to join us for our BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION Hosted by the HFMS PTA. See below for more information .
Hugs and High Fives and as always reachout if you need help.

HFMS Campus TAPR Report, Federal Report Card and School Report Card Now Available
The Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) pull together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. Performance is shown disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and low income status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics.
The TAPRs were previously known as the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) Reports.
The most current report is now available on our website. If you would like a paper copy, we have them in the front office.
Here is a link to our Campus Reports
Hoodies!!
For safety and security purposes, our current school policies is that students must remove their hoodie upon entry to the school building and while in the halls, cafeteria and common areas. It is up to teacher discretion if they get to wear it in the actual classroom. Please visit with your students and help us remind them of our expectations.

WELCOME NCTC'S TRIO PROGRAM TO HFMS

Counselor's Corner
Husky Parents,
We want your child to be successful in school, and that means supporting and encouraging their whole development. While excelling in academic classes is important, students also need skills for learning challenges, making good decisions, handling strong emotions, and getting along with others.
We will continue the Second Step® program during huddle this week designed to improve students’ social-emotional skills, such as emotion management, impulse control, problem solving, and empathy by learning about trying new strategies, learning from mistakes, and their own interests and strengths. This week's lesson will focus on how emotions can control your decisions, unhelpful thoughts and how stress can make you grow. Please see this week’s Parent Letter, regarding our objectives.

It is offered in English and Spanish through Webex. If you are interested, please use the link below to register.
