Fulton Focus

For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District

March 26, 2021

A message from the Superintendent

Spring has officially arrived! Students are moving outside for activities and our COVID status continues to improve. While we may not be back to normal we are doing our best to provide typical student opportunities with caution.

After spring break next week, students and teachers will be preparing for state assessments in late April and May. Additionally, the Proposition S construction projects at each elementary school are on schedule to be completed this summer.

Please be sure to note all of the information in the Focus, particularly the information on the free and reduced meal applications.

Thank you for sharing your students with us and as always it’s a great day to be a Hornet!

Ty Crain

Superintendent

Important! Please Read!

It is very important to fill out the free and reduced meal application for Fulton Public Schools. We have been fortunate during the 2020-21 school year to offer free meals to everyone. However, for the 2021-2022 school year beginning in August, an application and qualification will be required.

Typically, the first 30 days of the school year are covered by the previous school year’s application for free and reduced meals. If you did NOT fill out an application for 2020-21, payment will begin on the first day of school, August 25, unless you fill out the 2020-21 application NOW and qualify. This status will be honored for the first 30 days of the 2021-22 school year or until your 2021-22 application is processed.

In NO way will your child be identified as a recipient of free or reduced-price meals. FPS uses a fingerprint scanner for everyone receiving a meal which makes the process confidential.

If you qualify, benefits other than free meals include:

  • 2 Free ACT waivers

  • Waivers for College Application fees

  • More Scholarship opportunities

  • Reduced or free Preschool Tuition

The application can be found at https://www.fulton58.org/pages/uploaded_files/21%20Free-Reduced%20Price%20Meal%20Application.pdf

Printed copies can be found in each school office and at Central Office located at 2 Hornet Drive. Please return the application to your child’s school as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please call the Food Service Department at 573-590-8045.

Thank you.

Director of Food Service
