Donuts with D.O.G.S.
On Tuesday, January 18th, Rancho Sienna Elementary will hold its annual Donuts with D.O.G.S. event! This is the kick-off event which promotes the WATCH D.O.G.S. program - an innovative volunteer male involvement, educational initiative of the National Center For Fathering.
There are 2 primary goals of the WATCH D.O.G.S. program:
- Provide positive male role models for students and demonstrate by their presence that education is important.
- Provide an extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying.
WATCH D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day each school year on their child's school campus. During the day, WATCH D.O.G.S. may work with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow, and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. On the day of their participation, WATCH D.O.G.S. are given a daily schedule of their involvement and they wear an official WATCH D.O.G.S. T-shirt identifying them as WATCH D.O.G.S.
We hope you will join us for a sweet breakfast treat with your child to learn more about the Watch D.O.G.S. program and sign up for a day to volunteer this semester.
RSVP HERE for the event and to volunteer for WatchDOGS.

LHISD Covid Guidelines Updated 1/5/2022
Updated 1/5/22 - Updated guidance to a 5 day minimum isolation period for COVID positive staff. Students will continue with a minimum 10 day isolation period during this current spike in COVID positive reports.
Liberty Hill ISD will continue to monitor the impact of COVID-19 in our community and follow the guidance of local health authorities and the Texas Education Agency to mitigate the spread and keep our students, staff, and their families safe. Understanding that conditions can shift rapidly, Liberty Hill ISD will remain flexible to adjust to prevailing conditions and continue to enforce prevention measures and strategies to the extent possible and allowable under Texas law.
Please refer to our LHISD COVID Dashboard for the most up to date COVID positive numbers that have been reported in Liberty Hill ISD. Due to low numbers, the data dashboard will be updated on Monday and Thursday by 5pm.

December Champions of the Month
Addie Henry, Music
Ms. Henry makes music fun for the kids. She also is a rock star team player! She works tirelessly to make our special events the best! She is kind and encouraging and does a wonderful job with the choir (which she single-handedly started and maintains...the only one in LHISD I think...yep!) and communicating with parents. She knows her stuff and is always so kind! She has a calm spirit with control of her classes. She has a powerful way of delivering engaging lessons. She is positive, creative and loves her students equally. She works hard to help Rancho's light shine. Mrs. Henry does a wonderful job sharing her love of music with students. Our students love music....because of Addie!
PARAPROFESSIONAL OF THE MONTH
Lupe Rosales, Custodian
Lupe is so sweet and does her best to help keep our classroom clean. Our offices literally sparkle. She is always smiling, and working so hard. Always so nice and friendly and does a great job!! She goes above and beyond to meet our needs in the office and is so respectful of privacy needs. She joined our campus family this year and always strives to meet the needs of the staff and students she serves. We are blessed to have such a dedicated lady in our campus family!
STUDENT OF THE MONTH
Hudson Holland, 5th Grade
Hudson has been a part of Rancho since opening our door when he was in 1st grade. Through the years, we have witnessed him grow into a responsible and caring leader. He seeks opportunities to serve others and thrives when serving others. Hudson is a once-in-a-lifetime student. He greets every challenge with a smile and doesn't know a stranger. He is truly a champion for himself, his class, his school, and certainly LHISD. He embodies what it is to be a Panther! It continues to be a pleasure to witness him grow into a kind and joyful young adult. His bright smile and warm hugs are the best! So proud of you Hudson!
Kudos to Mrs. Flo and Mrs. Amy in the Library!
"Their connections with our children are far beyond what any parent could possibly hope for. At one point, Ms. Amy exploded with excitement about seeing one of the students she hadn't seen in a while, and the sweet, meek little guy he was, he returned the exact same level of excitement! Not to mention that Mrs. Flo knows basically every single student's name, which I could see makes them feel super special. And I especially loved their acknowledging the kids for being responsible for returning their books and once checked out said "way to go for being responsible!". These librarians are helping create a bond between our children and reading that I believe will stick with them forever. That is phenomenal! Well done!"

Parking Lot Safety and Reminders
Please remember, we do not allow parking lot drop-offs in the front or back of the building. The back parking lot is limited to buses, PreK/ESLE families, and students who walk from within our neighborhood. We do not staff the back parking lot to safely allow for car-line drop off.
The front car-line drop-off is fully staffed, safe, and efficient. We unload approximately 20 cars every 1-2 minutes through the front car line. If your Kinder-5th grade student is a car-rider in the mornings, please ONLY use the front car-line drop-off.
Please Observe Handicap Parking Laws
Please be respectful of others and do not park illegally in the handicapped spaces in either lot, even for "just a minute." This is illegal and prevents usage by our families who need and are legally entitled to those spaces. Violators will be ticketed by LHISD PD. Instead, walk a few more steps and be grateful you do not need those spaces. Remember, we are all constantly modeling for little eyes and ears.
Clear Bag Policy for all athletic events starts Jan. 1, 2022
Skating 101
Today in-line skates are as common as bicycles. Skating 101 provides an ideal opportunity to introduce safety gear and proper instruction to students. Skating 101 is unique because the program was developed by a teacher. Each lesson plan covers everything from the basic fundamentals of skating to exciting challenges for the accomplished skaters. Skating 101 is designed to give each student an equal opportunity to learn how to skate safely at his or her appropriate skill level and individual pace.
Signed permission slips are REQUIRED for participation and have already been sent home with all students in 3rd-5th grades. If you child needs another copy, they can ask for a copy in their PE class from Coach Scott or you can print the form linked below. The deadline to return all permission slips is Friday, January 14th. Students who have paid online but failed to return a permission slip will NOT be able to participate.
Thanks for supporting your child's participation by returning the form today!
