Principal's News: August 2018

Welcome Back!

We are off to a great start! The students have spent the first week acclimating themselves to their new classroom environment. Evacuation drills, scavenger hunts, finding their seats in the cafeteria, and "getting to know you" activities have all taken place. The students are learning the rules and routines of their classrooms, creating classroom communities through team building games and activities, and are beginning to form relationships with their teachers. Some of my favorite things to do the first week of school is meet the new students to Bridge, visit all of the classrooms, and participate in recess!

Thank you to the PTA for hosting the Welcome Back Coffee. It was great to see so many familiar faces and begin to get to know the new families to Bridge. Bridge is known for being an inclusive community who is eager to welcome new families. Please feel free to reach out to me or the PTA if you have any questions about school, the town, or community.

The month of September is used for teachers to get to know their students, complete assessments to better understand where their students are at, and establish the rules and routines of the classroom. The literacy specialists will be supporting students and classroom teachers during this time. They will be "pushing in" to classrooms to help with assessments, read with students, and get to know them. Math coaches will be working with staff to ensure that their math practices and routines are established and the workshop model is underway.

Patriot Post

In order to streamline all the important papers that come home, Bridge uses a school-wide mail system. Papers and flyers will be sent home with the oldest sibling at Bridge on applicable Wednesdays.

This section will be used to get to know the various staff at Bridge. This month, we are featuring the new classroom teachers!

Before School Playground Rules

Starting next week, grade K-2 teachers will pick up their students at the designated doors. Grades 3-5 will be let in, by class, to walk to their classrooms.

Playground supervision begins at 8:15am. Due to the large number of students on the playground at one time, the structure, web, and climbing wall are closed in the morning. The musical instruments, standing seesaw, and swings are open.
