Letter from the Principal - June 2021
As we put an end to the 2020-21 school year, I can’t help but think about all the ups and downs, triumphs and challenges, and zigs and zags we all experienced along the way. It certainly was a tough year for many of us, but we completed it together and learned a ton along the way.
We went into this past school year with many unknowns, but there was an endless amount of work on behalf of so many parties that we all seemed to get stronger throughout the process. We learned how to work together not only in-person with new protocols and parameters, but also virtually using devices and programs that many of us have never experienced. The greatest thing was that no matter what, in a short period of time, we all become very good at navigating the paths we needed to in order to ensure success.
To our students - Thank you for persevering throughout what was absolutely the most wild learning journey of your educational careers. You pivoted so many times with classes, assignments, in-person learning, virtual learning, and so many other protocols that you need to give yourselves a huge pat on the back. I ask that you reflect on the challenges and barriers from this year and flip these to become positive learning lessons in life as you’ll be better for it in the long run.
To our parents & guardians - Thank you for your constant adjustments, flexibility, and willingness to step up as parents and advocates for your children. Your perseverance, trust and investment in your children and our schools is inspiring. I ask that you continue to trust in your schools, and its school employees, and know that we will do as much as we can for you and our students. Things may not always be perfect, but we will continue to be committed to providing the best whole child, educational experience for your children no matter what the case.
To our teachers - Thank you for all the tireless hours of PD, training, new learning, connections with kids, and everything in between. You were absolute rockstars and kept the focus on teaching and learning no matter what the challenge. I ask that you keep that passion and fire of “Why” we got into the teaching profession as we move into a new wave of education.
To our office staff - Thank you for working longer hours, learning new tricks and being there for our kids and community no matter what the issue. I ask that you continue to promote positivity in face of adversity and work together to ensure our school runs as efficiently as possible no matter what the case.
To our staff - Thank you for being willing to work and help out where needed, even though some of the work may not have even been part of your actual job description. We are a team and you are such a valuable part. I ask that you continue to have that passion to do what is necessary for the good of all the students and staff within the school, no matter what the expectation or calling.
To our food service employees - Thank you for your tireless efforts in providing meals to our students, and community members. This was nothing short of amazing with hundreds of thousands of free meals prepared & consumed. I ask that you take pride in knowing that you provided so many with a basic fundamental need in life and you are extremely valued.
To our custodial/maintenance crew - Thank you for always doing your best on attending the needs so we can operate safely and efficiently. From moving furniture, laying down lines/arrows, and posting signage to addressing the basic mechanical fixes along the way, you rocked it. I ask that you continue to work hard to make our schools safe, comfortable and looking beautiful.
I truly believe that challenges are just opportunities to create positive solutions. If we focus on having that mindset, work together, understand each other and have perspective, nothing can stand in our way. I wish you all a wonderful summer, and I can’t wait to see you back for the 2021-22 school year.

Counselor's Corner
Careers Focus:
In March, our Counselor, Mrs. Rutledge, along with ELA Teachers will work together to introduce students in grades 6, 7, and 8 to the new career and education program, Xello. Students will complete interest inventories, learning style inventories, personality style inventories and lessons that help them navigate how careers and education come together to help them pursue their goals. Xello is a great tool that will help all students develop their Educational Development Plan required for graduation. Parents are encouraged to ask their students about the program during the month of March and beyond, and take the journey with their student that can lead to a bright future.
Please access our Counselor Corner interactive page with a ton of resources by CLICKING HERE. By clicking the icons on the slides, there are resources for students and parents with a variety of interests and needs.
