St. Luke Weekly SMORE
November 4, 2022

Leadership Message
Dear St. Luke Families,
Last week students were involved in all sorts of Halloween activities. It was so great to see the spirit of Halloween in the school. Today we paid tribute to those men and women from around the world who fought and worked for the peace and freedom that we enjoy in Canada today. We had a beautiful celebration put on by our student teachers.
November 11th is an important holiday in Canadian culture as it’s a day set aside to commemorate all those that came before us to make this great nation possible. Also known as Armistice Day, November 11th marks the day World War One ended; at the 11th hour, on the 11th day on the 11th month. Many men and women sacrificed their lives for us. For our family, friends, and the country we call home. Let us all remember this sacrifice.
We look forward to our Fall break November 7th to the 11th and wish you all a safe break hoping our students rest and relax over these days. There will be no SMORE next week as I too will be enjoying the break. Have a great week!
Blessings,
Cathy Hinger

WORSHIP TEAM CORNER
Welcome to our STL Worship Team! This team of singers and performers get together twice a week to sing and prepare for liturgical events such as School Masses, Christmas Productions, Easter Vigils and Christmas in the Country. In doing so, they have also committed to being a part of something that is so special here at STL!
Our next singing event will be at our Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish in Sherwood Park for Education Sunday at 8:30am. We are requesting that all Worship Team members be there at 8:15 for a mic check. Attached here is a newsletter for Worship Team members - please review and sign if you have not already.
Please join STL in celebrating this great group of students who are giving their time and their talents to God our Saviour!

INSIGHT TESTING - Grade 5 and 8
Dear grade 5 and 8 parents,
During the week of November 14-24, your child will be writing the Insight test. Insight is a group-administered test of cognitive abilities, which will be administered to all
grade 5 and 8 classes in EICS in the middle of November. The assessment is designed to
measure cognitive abilities including reasoning, comprehension, memory, and visual/auditory
processing. Students do not need to study for this type of assessment and the results are not used to evaluate their school achievement. The results provide information to help teachers recognize student strengths and plan for additional support as needed. If you would like to learn more about this assessment tool, please visit http://www.canadiantestcentre.com and select the Insight tab near the top of the page.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Donna Hayden
