What's going on at HSLPS?
Students Rally for People's Climate March
Over 40 HSLPS students and 7 teachers attended the People's Climate March on September 21, 2014. Prior to the march, students painted posters with powerful statements like "Keep the Oil in the Ground" and "Don't Frack It Up!" The students carried these posters while they marched to the beat of Mr. Arcoleo's drums and chanted "The people united will never be defeated." Along the way, our students were featured on NY1, and Christopher Hungria was interviewed on the radio station WBAI 99.5. Our students acted as informed citizens by standing up and raising awareness for what they believe in. This is public service at it's best!

Student Government Organizes Pep Rally
Our Student Government Organization (SGO) organized a the first campus-wide pep rally in 25 years. Student leaders from all four floors came together to celebrate George Washington athletic teams. Dante Jordan and Janiece Rodriguez emceed as team coaches recognized our student-athletes. There was music and food and plenty of school spirit. We truly have Trojan pride!
GW Football Finishes Season Undefeated
The George Washington Football team has finished once again at the top of its division, but this year they were undefeated. Representing Law, the star quarterback Ramon Reyes led the Trojans to victory week after week with crushing scores like 58-0 or 50-0. Very few other teams even scored any points against us. But it all came down to the final game on November 7th when we played Stuyvesant, the other undefeated team in the league. Our student-athletes outsmarted the top high school in the city to win 54-6. It's worth noting that many of our football players take advanced classes including Advanced Placement Calculus taught by our Principal, Mr. Politis. Way to go!
