Storybook Character Day TOMORROW!
Vaughan Yearbook Sale Through November 1st at CURRENT PRICE!
It’s time to order your 2019 - 2020 Vaughan Yearbook! The price is $25 (personalization is additional).
Please click HERE to place your order and ensure your student has a yearbook at this rate! There will be another sale in January, but there will be a price increase. Get yours NOW!

ATTENDANCE NOTIFICATION UPDATE & NEW REGISTRAR!
Absence notifications to the school and excuse notes can now be entered via Family Access in lieu of calling the school and/or sending a handwritten note!
Please report your students' absence to Stacy Spears by 10:00 am using one of the following methods:
- Family Access - best method! It notifies the school AND provides the excuse note!
(This feature cannot be used in lieu of a medical note to excuse students who leave school for a medical appointment or come in late from a medical appointment.)
- Email stacy.spears@allenisd.org who is now the new Registrar! (follow up with handwritten note, medical note or enter note into Family Access)
- Call 972-236- 0948 to contact Stacy Spears directly! This is a new! (follow up with handwritten note, medical note or enter note into Family Access)
All notes must be received within 3 school days of the absence to be considered excused.
Vaughan will be hosting our 20th Annual Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, November 11th. We will honor the men and women who have served our country with a light breakfast and then a patriotic program in the cafeteria.
To celebrate this special occasion, we are asking Vaughan Vikings to invite any relative or special friend they have who is a Veteran (of peace-time or war-time), a relative/friend of a loved one currently serving, or a survivor of a deceased Veteran to come to our school on Monday, November 11, 2019 starting at 7:15 am.

Veterans Day Donations Needed!
Vaughan fourth graders will be collecting items to send to the VA Hospital. There will be a box in the front hallway for students to put in their donations.
This year we are collecting the following items:
- Board games/card games – new or gently used
- Socks – new (multi-packs of white socks are great)
- Fleece blankets/throws – new or gently used clean ones
- Candy for Soldiers’ Angels – wrapped candy for troops, veterans, and wounded veterans in VA hospitals
Please help us fill some of the needs of our Veterans by sending a donation to school by Wednesday, November 6th. Thank you!

Annual Rudolph Run: Sign Up by November 1
Vaughan Elementary is gearing up for the annual City of Allen Rudolph Run. You can register now online through November 1st.
With registration for this event, you get a cool t-shirt. Be sure to register under Vaughan Elementary School, so that our school gets credit for your entry.
Nomination for Citizenship Awards
Allen ISD Council of PTAs Citizenship Awards are given out to teachers, staff, and parent volunteers who give their time and effort to support our schools. These individuals are nominated because they go above and beyond what is expected and make a difference for our children. If you have someone who is part of our Vaughan community who you would like to nominate, please do so by CLICKING HERE.

Thank You for Shopping at the Book Fair
We had a great fall book fair thanks to you! Lots of books in the hands of happy readers. Thank you to all the volunteers as well, especially Book Fair Chair, Shauntay Richey!
Popcorn Club Delivery
Popcorn was delivered on October 25th. If you are interested in being part of the Popcorn Club, we have a few memberships still available! CLICK HERE to sign up to start in November.
Red Ribbon Success
It was great to see everyone at the Red Ribbon Picnic! Despite the rain, everyone had a terrific time. A huge thanks to our Red Ribbon Picnic committee: Beth Monsen, Karlye Kile and Jennifer Morrow.
Metroplex Spirit Night: November 8th
Drop your children off for Parent's Night Out and do WHATEVER. YOU. WANT. while your children are being supervised & playing with all their Vaughan friends!
6:30-9:30 pm: $15 per child
6:30-11:00 pm: $22 per child
Cheese Pizza is included!
Children ages 3-12 can attend

Birthday Book Club
The Birthday Book Club is promoted by the Vaughan Library to honor students during his/her birthday month. With a $20 donation to the library, a book is purchased that becomes part of the permanent library collection. The book will include a bookplate featuring the student's name, picture, and current school year inside the front cover. By participating in the Birthday Book Club program, you are helping our library grow and honoring your child at the same time!
To join the Birthday Book Club, please pay $20 on School Pay and complete this form or complete the form and send a check (payable to Vaughan) or cash to the Library.
Does your student have a summer birthday? Consider honoring your child on their "half-birthday!"
Student members of the Birthday Book Club will have the following opportunities
- Choose a book that will be a permanent part of the Vaughan Library collection.
- Have a picture made in the library for the bookplate that will also feature student name and current school year.
- Appear on morning announcements to share the book that has been chosen.
- Have an extended lending time with the BBC book as a bonus on top of total allowable checkouts.
