A Message From Dr. Ricks

Parents and Friends,

The cooler days have been welcomed with enthusiasm! I loved seeing so many of you at this morning's chapel service. I encourage you to come worship and sing with your children as often as you can; the service lasts about 50 minutes...you are in your cars by 9! It is a wonderful way to begin your day and learn more about the spiritual part of GES as well as Grace church.

It's parent-teacher conference time. If you have not been contacted by your child's teacher, you will be shortly. I think it is so important to get to meet your children’s teachers and visit about how they are doing at this point in the year when there is still plenty of time to change habits and attitudes to ensure that students are successful this year. Our teachers value the opportunity to meet with parents and discuss your child’s strengths and challenges and chart a course for the year.

I am so proud of our student-athletes. Our football team is performing with excellence, and our Gator cheer and dance squads have been there with spirited support. Our Middle School Cross Country team did very well last weekend with both boys and girls placing in the top 1/3rd of the runners.

This week and next, I will be traveling a bit to meetings for both LA A+ schools and SAES (Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools). It will be good to reconnect with my colleagues and discuss the ways in which we can strengthen our Episcopal Independent School network. Then, I will be ready to enjoy a night in celebration of GES, art, and a Louisiana legend at the Friends of Grace benefit at Sage restaurant on October 1. Please keep reading for more details, but it promises to be an exciting event!

Have a good week,

Dr. Beth J. Ricks
