November 4 - Student holiday; Professional Learning Day for staff
November 11 - Veterans' Day - Wear red, white, and blue
November 14 - 1st Grade field trip to the Dallas World Aquarium
Monday, November 11, at 8:30 a.m.
Who: Students, approved chaperones, and O.C. Taylor teachers
Where: Dallas World Aquarium, followed by a picnic lunch at Parr Park (weather permitting!)
When: Thursday, November 14, 9:30 - 1:30
Why: We will learn about interdependence among living organisms, animal adaptations, and animal life cycles -- and have fun!
How: Students and teachers will ride a school bus; chaperones will travel by car.
What students should wear: our OCT classroom shirt and comfortable shoes
What students should bring: a completely disposable sack lunch with a disposable water bottle
What chaperones should bring: Please bring a lunch and a blanket for your group to sit on, in case the picnic pavilion at Parr Park is occupied. Thank you!
What We're Learning
Math - Balanced equations (3 + 4 = 2 + 5); adding more than 2 addends (2 + 4 + 3 = 9); generating story problems from a given number sentence
Humanities - Story elements
Science - Patterns of movement: moving in a straight line, zig-zag, back and forth, round and round, fast and slow
