Natural Selectioin
Jake Dye-Neil
Natural Selection
is the gradual, non-random process by which biological traits become either more or less common in a population as a function of differential reproduction of their bearers. It is a key mechanism of evolution.
Difference in in Cell shape
The abnormal hemoglobin make the cell into a sickle shape and make the cells stick together.
DNA Mutation
GLU is positively charged while valine is negatively charged which makes the RBC stiff and stick together after the oxygen has left the cell.
Genotype
AA-Regular Red Blood Cells AS-You are imune to malaria SS-You get Sickle Cell Anemia
mRNA Strand
This is the complete stran of mRNA and it shows where the natural selection mutation has occurred in the DNA and how it changes the mRNA of a Sickle Cell compared to Normal Cell.
