Don't abolish Columbus Day !!

Columbus Day should still be a holiday

How Columbus got to the Americas

Columbus day should not be abolished, because Columbus is one of the many reasons we are here today. He was an explorer and navigator, who had been on several expeditions to Africa gaining knowledge of the Atlantic currents flowing east and west from the Canary islands. They believed a route sailing west across the Atlantic would be quicker and safer. So he estimated the earth to be a sphere approximatly 63% in size

- Columbus has been credited to opening up the Americas to the European Colonization.

- Columbus idea for a three-ship voyage of discovery was rejected by the Portuguese king, Genoa, and Venice.

- His idea was finally accepted by the Spanish monarchy.
