Class Curriculum
We continue our unit in Non-fiction and our focused on identifying main idea and supporting details.
WRITER'S WORKSHOP
Children have been researching their own non-fiction topics, organizing their facts and writing their chapters. This week we will focus on adding in non-fiction text features to help our readers learn more!
MATH WORKSHOP
We begin a new unit; Problem Solving: Result and Change Unknown. Children will discover multiple ways to create arrangements equalling 7, 8, 9, and 10. We will discuss 'friends of ten'. (1/9, 2/8, 3/7, 4/6, 5/5), counting on, and adding doubles (2+2, 3+3, 4+4)
These strategies are very important for children to develop to support math fluency.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Children will be learning about holidays around the World. Children will visit with Mrs. Poe this week. They will be learning about Australia this week and Los Posadas in Mexico.
Other Countries they will visit:
Ms. Wilkerson - Germany, Mrs. Conley - Italy, Ms. Reisini - India, Mrs. Abernethy - Sweden
