Caribou Trails Update

Change is in the Air

It is wonderful to see the ground and last year's grass, and to know that soon the snow will be melted and the mosquitos will appear again, along with the endless sunshine of summer.

Last week was a blur, as our community pitched in to put on the Anderson-Crawford Joint Carnival. The Crawford PTO and the parents of both schools were amazing in getting this all done and putting on an event to remember. The teachers had a very long day, but showed up with smiles and good cheer to greet the community and play games with our students. There were so many happy faces in the school and we are so glad that many families were able to join in with the fun and see the school. Thank you all for your support!

This week we will mark the ceremonial closing of Anderson Elementary School, and begin the transition to Anderson-Crawford Elementary in earnest. The building is undergoing changes in staff and facilities in order to be certain that we are prepared for K-5. To this end, the Anderson and Crawford school communities will have our last day of school, an early out, on May 17. BEJSHS will continue to attend until May 19.

As you look below in this newsletter, you will see many upcoming events celebrating your children and the Ben Eielson seniors. We are honored to serve the Eielson AFB, Moose Creek and Salcha communities and hope to add enjoyment and belonging to your time here at our school.

Take care and don't forget the Deep Woods Off!

See you in the car line!

Carnival a Success Thanks to Everyone!

Oh my gosh! The Anderson-Crawford Combined Carnival on April 29 was a huge success. We had more than 40 volunteers helping with setup, during the carnival, and the clean-up afterward. The PTO board, made up of Danielle Fleming, Bella Ohm, Heather Hiener and Tiffany Chipman, spent months planning this, gathering resources and materials and organizing everything. Kudos to the PTO and all of the marvelous volunteers for an extraordinary event!

Grad Walks for 5th and 6th Grade

In the past weeks our 5th and 6th grade students have been touring the Junior High School and seeing what is in store for them next year. The students have come back excited and ready to go across the street for school, if not a little nervous about lockers! To help send them off in style we are working on plans for Grad Walks for our 5th and 6th graders. We have a lot to schedule around, so bear with us!

Right now we have tentatively scheduled the 5th grade grad walk for May 13 at 11:50, in conjunction with Field Day. Students will walk through the building and be cheered by the other grade levels before going out to Field Day where they will enjoy their cupcakes during the rest break station. The 6th grade grad walk is scheduled for May 17th, with parents invited to join us in the gym at 12:10 for the students to enjoy their cupcakes after their grade walk. Parents are then welcome to sign their child out, since this is the last day of school and school dismisses at 12:40.

These plans are what we have right now and teachers will communicate any additional information as it becomes available. Thanks!
