Message From Central Road School
Mrs. Joanna Shostachuk, School Principal
A Note from Mrs. Shostachuk 10/10/2021
Dear Central Road Families:
We had another wonderful week of learning at Central Road! Both our students and staff did an amazing and safe job practicing our lockdown drill this week. Our bus evacuation drill has been postponed to a later time. We hope you find the long weekend to be relaxing and time well spent with family and friends! We will be very excited to welcome students back on Wednesday, October 13th as there is no school on October 11th and 12th. Thank you for taking a moment to read our weekly parent communication as we continue to honor a strong home-school connection. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
Kindest Regards,
Joanna Shostachuk

THANK A CENTRAL ROAD STAFF MEMBER
Teachers in general love this time of year. Central Road teachers and staff members take the prospect of beginning a new year to a whole new level. They prepare their classrooms, plan lessons, organize schedules, review student records, and think about all of the possibilities the year ahead holds. As much as we recognize their efforts and successes here at school, nothing means more to a teacher or staff member than a kind word from a student or his/her family. As we get the year underway, I invite you to take notice of the things you see your child's teacher do, hear your child's teacher say, or the things you hear your child gush with excitement about related to their teacher. We've included this simple form for you to submit should you feel so inclined to do so. Children in full day school spend more of their waking day with their teacher than they do with their parents. We thank you for entrusting your child with us! This is going to be a great school year.

Shield Testing Update
We continue to Shield Test students in grades 1-6 on Fridays. Morning KDG/ECDEC classrooms began on Friday, October 8th. Afternoon ECDEC and afternoon KDG classrooms began Shield testing on Tuesday, October 5th. Shield testing is conducted quickly, efficiently and with safety. Results will be available within 24- 48 hours. We contact the parents/guardians of any student who may receive a positive test result ONLY. This information is confidential. If you would like to opt-out/in of Shield Testing, please e-mail Ms. Latham at lathamr@ccsd15.net or Ms. Flor flork@ccsd15.net to note your adjustment.
Students continue to sit 3 feet away from peers masked while learning indoors. Mask wearing outdoors continues to remain optional for students and staff. We have recently adjusted our indoor eating/seating arrangements as best as possible to ensure students are closer to 6 feet apart when eating.
Return to school with COVID-like symptoms (with no known exposure)
- If a person has a COVID symptom and goes home, in order for them to come back, we have to have a negative PCR COVID test and fever-free for 24 hours.
- If they have vomiting or diarhea, they need to be symptom free for 48 hours and have a negative PCR COVID test to return.
- If they have any other COVID symptom, they need to have a negative test to return.
- If they decide not to get a test after a symptom was identified, they can return after 10 days.
Health Requirements due by October 15th
Our deadline is fast approaching! All six grade students, kindergarten, preschool students and any new students at Central Road School are required to meet health examination and immunization requirements. Students not in compliance will be subject to exclusion on October 15th from school until Illinois stated requirements are met. If needed, please contact your child's pediatrican to schedule an exam appointment. We appreciate you doing so if needed.
If you have any questions regarding your child's health, you may reach me at patela1@ccsd15.net or at 847-963-5102. We will work together to ensure all guidelines are followed and clearly understood while keeping our students all safe and healthy!
Thank you for your patience.

October Message from Mrs. Kathy Nordin
Also, I am noticing is when cars are exiting the parking lot, be it morning or afternoon, most vehicles are not stopping and not looking to see if there is oncoming traffic. Some are not even slowing down, just proceeding onto Central Road. There have been several near misses. There is a STOP sign there and it must be adhered to. Please remember the “NO LEFT TURN” times. There's a sign for that, as well. PLEASE do not cross in the middle of Central Road with your children. It is so incredibly dangerous with the way cars drive in that area. I am there for a reason, to keep your children safe and to teach them the proper way to cross a street. As always, thank you to those who take the time to read this and also abide by the advice. Also, please remember share with those who do not. Thank you for your support.
