Mrs. Gibson's Class
Week 9: October 12-16
Conferences are next week!
Don't forget...This year we will be conducting Student Led Conferences. These conferences allow your child to be a part of the conference where he/she can showcase what they have been learning and together we can celebrate accomplishments and discuss future goals. If needed at the end of the conference, parents may request a few moments to speak to the teacher without the child present. Each conference is scheduled for 15 minutes which will go quickly. If you have more questions, please feel free to get in touch with me.
***IMPORTANT: If you have signed up for an after-school conference after 4:30, you are welcome to meet me at door 13 which is the first grade pod door. This will save time from having to walk to and from the front office. If you have signed up for a morning conference, you can come in the front doors and walk to the classroom. Your child will need to leave with you at the end of the conference.

iPads coming home on Monday!
We are so excited for our classroom iPads to come home with us on Monday. Because this iPad is set to my apple id, parents and students can NOT add or delete apps to the iPad. I will be the only one adding/deleting apps. There is a restriction code set by me on each iPad as well. If you find that you need more restrictions, please let me know and I can change the restrictions for the iPad. There are some websites that might be restricted because of the settings I have the iPads on. If you have a website that you would like for your child to access, just send me an email, and I can make that adjustment the following school day.
***I would suggest getting into the habit each night of having your child charge their iPad in a centrally located place (not your child's bedroom). A parents' bedroom or kitchen is a great location for charging!

A Letter from our Cadet Teacher
Hello parents!
My name is Amy Leatherman and I am the cadet teacher for your child’s first grade class this year. Cadet teaching is a program for high school seniors to venture out to another classroom and experience a little bit of what teaching is like. I had to go through the process of applying, getting teacher recommendations, and having an interview to be able to get into this program.
I am a senior at Hamilton Southeastern High School and I first started working with kids at my church on Sundays and Wednesdays. This made me strongly consider becoming an elementary school teacher. That’s why I decided to be in this program. I want to see what it’s like to actually be an elementary school teacher before I decide to major in it in college next year.
I’m so excited to be a part of Mrs. Gibson’s class this year!
Sincerely,
Amy Leatherman
