Struggling Students: Does My Child Have a Disability? (English/Spanish)
Presenter: Kelli Catini, Director of Special Education
Parents will gain a deeper understanding of the special education process in District 47 and discover the academic, social-emotional, and behavioral resources and supports available for struggling students.
The Home/School Connection and Why It Matters (English)
Presenter: Jacki Rubio, Educational Consultant, Unidos Bilingual Education Services
Schools, families, communities, and especially students benefit immensely when schools and families work together in equitable partnerships. Learn how to build and maintain these important relationships as a parent and what you can do to foster an environment of community in your school that will help all students grow.
Supporting Your Reader at Home (English)
Presenters: Anastasia Gruper, Assistant Principal, Glacier Ridge Elementary; Mal Keenan, ESL Resource Teacher, Devonshire Elementary School
Participants will learn how to motivate and support readers at home. Strategies and resources will be provided for students in grades K-8.
Digital Safety: Keeping Kids Safe Online (English)
Presenter: Community Relations Officer Ed Pluviose, Crystal Lake Police Department
Parents will learn about the dangers of online behaviors, such as cyber bullying and sexting. The definitions and legal ramifications will be discussed along with commonly used "apps" and websites.

Youth Mental Health (English)
Presenter: Kathleen Burger, LCSW; Co-Owner, Center for Emotional Wellness
Parents will learn about the mental health issues facing our youth today as well as how to support their child and recognize warning signs. Presentation will also include an overview of the social-emotional supports in place for District 47 students.

Families will be provided with strategies and resources to use at home to support their student in math. Websites, apps, and other tools will be shared.

Presenter: Lori Parrish, Director of Professional Development and Grants, Certified Conversational Intelligence® Coach
Parents will learn tips and strategies for creating meaningful conversations with their child, including how to open up lines of communication and gauge conversational intelligence.

Mindfulness: Being "Present" for Yourself and Your Child (English)
Presenter: Shauna Bell, MOT, OTR/L; Occupational Therapist, Certified Yoga Calm® Youth Yoga Instructor
Participants will learn quick and easy strategies for identifying brain chatter, body signals, and artificial distracters. Families will walk away with simple techniques to awaken awareness, respond to stress and improve adult/child connections.
PBIS at Home (English)
Presenter: Agnes Deredowski, School Psychologist, PBIS District Coach
Participants will learn how incorporating positive behavior support principles at home can benefit their child's PBIS learning at school and beyond.
