Jersey vs Holstein

By: Aaron Rutch

Jersey's have the highest fat, protein contents and the richest milk.

Jerseys also have a lower milk yield then the other breeds.

The average mature weight for a jersey is 900 lbs. Produce 1,558 gallons of milk yearly.

If were to choose over the two i would pick the jersey.

why? though the milk yield is not as high i enjoy rich creamy milk. I also like that they are the smallest and average a few hundred pounds lighter than the others. I also like the fact that they are known to be very docile.

Got Milk?

Holsteins are the most popular dairy cattle.

They are also the largest of all dairy cattle.

The average mature weight for a Holstein is 1500 pounds mature.

Produce 2,220 gallons of milk yearly.
